Ravens CB Jimmy Smith Suspended 4 Games For PED Use After Suffering Torn Achilles

by: Darrelle Lincoln On  Monday, December 4, 2017

Chicago Bears v Baltimore Ravens

After suffering a season-ending Achilles injury Sunday, Jimmy Smith received even more bad news Monday.

With a long rehab process ahead, Smith will also use this time to begin serving a 4-game suspension he received for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy, according to ESPN.

Smith and the team were made aware of the pending suspension last week, and he decided to withdraw his appeal after suffering his torn Achilles against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The suspension will ultimately cost him $182,352, which would’ve been $2 million if he hadn’t restructured his deal with Baltimore in August.
