11 Years Ago Today, Nick Saban Quit On The Dolphins & Bolted To Alabama One Month After Lying About It (VIDEO)
It may be hard to fathom for some young people when they find out that Nick Saban was once in the NFL as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Saban was just finishing his second season with the franchise when he kept getting bombarded with questions from reporters about the job opening with the Crimson Tide.
He was asked about it repeatedly at press conferences, and eventually he decided to slam the door on the situation once and for all with a fiery statement that he wasn’t going to Alabama.
“I guess I have to say it,” Saban said on December 21, 2006. “I’m not going to be the Alabama coach.”
Just a few weeks later, Saban had indeed bolted to coach the Crimson Tide, where he still remains today.
