Big Baller Brand Is Sliding In DMs of Top HS Recruits & Getting Turned Down For His Pro League

Since being in the public eye, LaVar Ball hasn’t taken too many losses, but when they do happen, it’s in grand fashion.

Back in December, LaVar Ball announced he would be starting a league called the Junior Basketball Association for high school basketball players who don’t want to go to college. This league allows players to play ball and make money without the threat of NCAA rules.

It sounded like a great idea at the time, until the rejections started coming in. Not too many top high school players want to go to an unproven league that would possibly screw up their future. But that hasn’t stopped Big Baller Brand from trying.

The company has been sending out mass DMs to top high school recruits, telling them they’ve been accepted into his league. And they just keep turning him down.

Here’s who Big Baller Brand has been turned down by from the class of 2018, via SB Nation:

  • Tyler Herro (Kentucky signee — #27 on ESPN Top 100)
  • Jalen Carey (Syracuse — #37)
  • Simi Shittu (Vanderbilt — #11)
  • David Singleton II (Michigan State — #67)
  • Gabe Brown (Michigan State — #82)
  • Quentin Grimes (Kansas State — #8)
  • David Duke (Providence — #45)
  • A.J. Green (Northern Iowa — #72): “I still have to talk to my family about it but will most likely decline the offer.”
  • Bryan Penn-Johnson (Undeclared — #85)
  • Isaiah Mucius (Wake Forest — #60)
  • Daniel Oturu (Minnesota — #53)
  • Marcus Zegarowski (Creighton — #100)
  • Jairus Hamilton (Boston College — #56)
  • Miles Norris (Oregon — #77)
  • Reggie Perry (Mississippi State — #23): “I have my mind set on attending Mississippi state and playing for coach Howland.”
  • Cormac Ryan (Stanford — #55)
  • Joe Wieskamp (Iowa — #71)
  • Brandon Johns (Michigan — #58)
  • Devon Dotson (Kansas — #24)

So far, only two are actually considering it.

  • Brandon Williams (Arizona — #40): “I will be considering it. I’m keeping all my options open.”
  • Elijah Weaver (USC — #36): “Does not know” if he will consider the offer
