Alabama AD ROASTS UCF On Twitter After WNIT Victory (TWEETS)
The Alabama Crimson Tide may have won the CFP National Title Game back in January, but that hasn’t stopped the undefeated UCF Knights from proclaiming themselves to be the champions of the 2017 college football season.
By now you’ve probably heard the story. The University of Central Florida finished the regular season with a perfect 12-0 record, but were not invited to the College Football Playoff semifinal because of the American Athletic Conference’s lackluster schedule. UCF would go on to beat the Auburn Tigers in the Peach Bowl, and that same Auburn team just so happened to have beaten the national champion Crimson Tide one month earlier in the Iron Bowl.
Having won the real national title, Alabama obviously didn’t appreciate any of this. And apparently they’re still salty about UCF’s actions, because their athletic director, Greg Byrne, had the following to say after the Crimson Tide women’s basketball team’s victory over UCF at the WNIT:

If you thought UCF athletic director Danny White was just going to sit around and let another school’s AD troll his university, think again:
Our policy has been to schedule Disney parades when we win New Year’s Day bowl games. We’ve won 2 in the last 5 years. The most recent in 2017 when we were the only undefeated team in America, & National Champions. If y’all wanna have a parade for WNIT wins – more power to ya! https://t.co/pgFLN8mqj9

Is it possible to have a rivalry with a team without ever having played them? Because it feels like that’s what we’ve got going on here. And I love it!!!
