Cast of “The Sandlot” Reunites To Play Some Baseball (VIDEO + PICS)
Asking baseball fans to name the best baseball movies of all time is always a great way to start a debate. However, if you put the question to fans who grew up in the 90s, chances are they’re going to tell you it’s The Sandlot.
The Sandlot is basically the Space Jam of baseball, only way more quotable. Few movies stir up more nostalgia for sports fans under the age of 40.
This year Sandlot fans are celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary. And this week, the entire cast—minus only Mike Vitar, who played Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez—reunited for a segment with the Today Show‘s Gadi Schwartz.
The four-and-a-half-minute segment that aired on NBC covered a lot of ground. In addition to reminiscing about making the film, the former child actors talked about the film’s cultural legacy, what it’s like to be a part of so many people’s childhoods, and what life is like for them now.
Oh, and of course, they played a little baseball.

Gadi Schwartz also tweeted out a behind-the-scene video in which the cast talks about what they’d like to see happen in the real world of sports. Patrick Renna, a.k.a. Ham, says he wants to see Odell Beckham Jr. go to the Patriots, so he’s awful. But rest were mostly split between wanting to see LeBron come to L.A. and Kobe make a comeback.

All in all the reunion was pretty great, though it certainly would have been better if Benny the Jet had been there.
