Sooners Are Number 1Total Pro Sports - The Oklahoma Sooners have jumped past the Texas Longhorns in the BCS Standings with the inside route to play either The Alabama Crimson Tide or the Florida Gators in the National Championship Game.

The Sooners lost to the Longhorns earlier on in the year in a shootout 45-35, but still edged the Longhorns by a very slim margin in the BCS standings.  The Sooners have a .9351 BCS average and the Texas Longhorns have a BCS average at .9223.

The Sooners will now go on to face the Missouri Tigers in the Big 12 title game next week.  A 3 way tiebreaker forced the league to use the best BCS rating to determine which team would play the Missouri Tigers on Saturday in Kansas City, Mo.  With a win against the Tigers next week the Sooners will be guaranteed a spot in the BCS National Championship Game.

I think the mighty Sooners could stack up against the New York Giants

    3. I see both sides of the argument the thing I don’t agree with is Oklahoma being ranked above Alabama in some of the computer polls. Do loses not count in computer polls?

irs, they did not “recently” lose to Texas. I they had recently lost to Texas, the rankings would be different.

The reasons why they are ahead of Texas:

They DESTROYED Texas Tech, who beat Texas.
They beat #12 OSU, while Texas only beat A&M.
      Texas Tech beat Baylor.

    5. Tech shouldn’t be ranked ahead of Texas, as they lost a game by 44 points. I’m sorry, but head-to-head goes out the window when you have a score like that. Championship-caliber teams do NOT lose by 6 touchdowns; Tech removed themselves from contention with that loss.

Texas defeated Oklahoma on a neutral field. Texas SHOULD have gone to the Big XII championship, and the ground they made up in the human polls suggests that at least someone agrees.
