Florida Gators vs Oklahoma Sooners
2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game Preview
This matchup has everything that a fan dreams of watching in a 2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game. The Oklahoma Sooners feature the nations most prolific offense ever, setting records in touchdowns (97) and points (702) this season. They have multiple threats at the wide receiver position and a Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford that gets the ball down the field quickly and efficiently. Sam Bradford has been the nations best passer this season, leading the country with a passing efficiency of 186.3.
The Sooners can also run the ball well, they have two backs that gained more than 1000 yards on the ground this year, however, DeMarco Murray will miss the game due to a ruptured hamstring. That means there will be alot of pressure on Chris Brown, the junior back had 1110 yards and 20 touchdowns, numbers that the Gators will surely be prepared for.
The Florida Gators have been the nations most consistent team this season, beating up on opponents with their only loss coming to the Ole Miss Rebels in the swamp. That loss is well behind the Gators, after their impressive win in the SEC title game against then No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide, they assured themselves a spot in the Championship Game.
TIm Tebow was sensational in that game and has been all season, his leadership qualities is evident in the players around him, his teammates elevate their game to another level when he is under center. The Gators will need Tebow to be at his best as they contend with an offense that has not been contained all season.
The x-factor in this game will be the Gators defense, a unit which creates turnovers which lead to scores will need to make some plays in order to get Sam Bradford off his game. The key will be pressure up front, if the Gators can create a pass rush that gets Sam moving from right to left and unable to plant when he throws, the deep ball will be less effective.
The game will be played at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida, the Gators should have the edge in fan support. The Florida fans will be glad to have Percy Harvin back in the lineup, the double threat running back missed the SEC title game with a sprained ankle but should be 100% healthy for this game.
2009 FedEx BCS National Championship Game Prediction
Both offenses are explosive, but they do it in different ways. The Gators use the Urban Meyer system, a method of offense that worked so well at the University of Utah, has carried over well with the Florida Gators.
The centerpiece of the Gators offense revolves around the quarterback as he makes decisions on every play. The Sooners move the ball down the field in big chunks, they are constantly searching out the deep ball, with their organized, no-huddle offense they keep the pressure on the opposing defense.
The difference in this bowl game like most of the bowl games will be defense, whichever defense can contain the opposition best should win the game.

Go Sooners!
I’m going with the Gators…fastest defense in the country, and Tebow is a big-game player…giving 5 is a gift, I’d take it!!!
As much as I hate to say it the Gators are going to smoke them. OU is just not athletic enough and they are without their star running back.
Gators by 15-20, their offense is simply too fast and i’m not impressed with the defenses in the Big 12, even if I do hate the Gators
Florida has the best defense the Sooners will have seen this year so don’t expect 50 points from them. Oklahoma also has to stop the vaulted run game of the Gators and force them to pass if they want to win. I think it will be a close game and an average scoring game.
Florida 34
OU 27
After seeing Texas Struggle with Ohio State, I got to take Florida. I think Florida has the best defense Oklahoma has seen all season long and could take a while before they get it going. by that time Tebow and Florida may have taken a comfortable lead. Watching the bowl games, I didnt realize that how little defense is played in the big 12. Not saying that oklahoma’s defense is weak or anything, just saying, that all the big 12 offenses seem to struggle in the bowl games, due to playing out of conference defenses.
Utah…ah that’s right they aren’t in this game.
USC…ah they aren’t either
UT…ah they aren’t either
Not gonna watch it – want to see ratings drop to force change. Hope Utah’s AG is succesful in his lawsuit.
Hope the game is a 7-3 game and awfuly played.
Anything to get a playoff…
I can’t wait to see a shootout, it’s going to be a track meet.
Tebow..Next great quarterback..mark my words..he is jim kelly and brett favre in one package..florida
Oklahoma. Look at the two schedules its not even close. Florida is more overrated this year then USC is. Thats saying something. Tim Tebow will have to beat OU with the passing game, and I dont think the offense can put up enough points to compete with OU. The way you beat OU is with the deep pass. Tebow completes about 70% of his passes under 10 yards (meaning he throws it less then 10, not that the play goes for less then 10). I dont think the Oklahoma defense will give up big points. Floridas defense got torched by Ole Miss, they will certainly give up points to Oklahoma
