Sooners Sam Bradford Will Return To Oklahoma

Sam Bradford Returns To The SoonersTotal Pro Sports - Is it possible that again this upcoming season we see a rematch of the BCS National Championship game?

After leading the Oklahoma Sooners to a National Championship game this year and winning a Heisman trophy, quarterback Sam Bradford has decided to return for his junior season.

Bradford led the Oklahoma Sooners to a record breaking season, in which they scored 716 total points and had 78 offensive touchdowns. He also led the nation in touchdown passes with 50 and had a nation leading and college football record setting passer rating of 180.9.  He made the announcement with less drama than his counterpart quarterback in the Championship game Tim Tebow, but nonetheless Oklahoma Sooner fans are just as thrilled to have their star back for atleast one more season.

Sam Bradford grew up dreaming of playing quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners, he had this to say at a news conference,

"I've dreamed about playing at Oklahoma since I was little, and my three years here have been probably three of the best years of my life, and I really feel that there's no need to cut this experience short,"

Leaving behind an opportunity to be an early first round pick, Bradford felt that to leave without a National Championship would be an unaccomplished goal.  This news also allows Bradford to accomplish a goal only one other player in the history of the modern era has achieved, and that is to win the Heisman trophy multiple times.  Bradford will have some help in making this run as tight end Jermaine Gresham is also returning for his senior season, Gresham has caught 23 touchdowns over the last 2 seasons.

This decision leaves many NFL teams that are quarterback deprived with a few more worries, with Matthew Stafford the only anticipated quarterback to be drafted in the first round.  These teams may have to select the next best quarterback and hope that he can become something special, the likes of Pat White, Graham Harrell, Chase Daniel, and Rhett Bomar. This draft features many players from the offensive line and the defense with some athletic wide receivers.

I think that Sam Bradford's decision to stay was a good one and barring a serious injury has a shot at ending his college career on a high note, winning a national title.  If 2008 was a preview to the year we are going to have in 2009 then I cannot wait.

I would go back too if i thought that the Lions would draft me.

    3. I don’t get it. There’s no way to improve on being selected number one overall. Next year’s worst team will probably be just as bad as Detroit–it might even be Detroit. Gresham should’ve come out too. Injuries are too possible, especially with a depleted O-line. Could’ve driven a Ferrari to work. Instead he’ll ride a bike to practice–after class. Bad business decision for both men. No doubt this move will cause Mark Sanchez to come out early, and he actually needs another year to fine-tune his skills. I’m simply dumbfounded.

    4. I guess there are more important things than money, I know almost impossible to believe but it seems true in Bradford’s case. His devotion to the university will never be forgotten, I agree with the amount of quality quarterbacks entering the draft this year he was gonna be one of the first quarterbacks selected.

He wants a Championship and his hunger to win one at Oklahoma is unprecedented. This may help him down the road in that it shows teams how commited he can be to winning and acheiving goals that he sets for himself.

I actually like the decision on a personal level, as a business decision it was terrible and I would like to know who helped make the choice to stay. Either way he’s coming back and I am going to smash the overs this year in Oklahoma games.

    5. As an NFL fan, I’m mourning the loss, that’s all. I guess I see the whole jump to the NFL a little different than most. To me it’s like this: if you’re a musician playing for peanuts at a local bar, and a record company offers you a multi-year record deal. What do you do, if you love music? Where is the difficulty in that decision? I doubt that the Beatles would’ve said, “Sorry, old chap. We’ve got to stand by the pub that gave us our first opportunity.” Whatever. I think he’s a little scared about having to lead 30 year old men, and feels he needs to grow up more–both menatally and physically to prepare him for that. BY THE WAY, LET ME GO ON RECORD NOW AS SAYING THAT HE WILL BE THE FIRST, (NOT ONE OF THE FIRST) QUARTERBACK TAKEN NEXT YEAR. HE WILL BE THE FIRST OVERALL PICK IN THE DRAFT. Would’ve been that this year. Now we’ll never know.

I don’t know, I think Stafford would have gone ahead of Bradford. Many in the NFL still think the spread is a gimmick offense, where Georgia ran a primarly-pro offense for Stafford. Mark Sanchez may have went ahead of him as well.

All I know is, next year is gonna be a lot of fun in the college football world.

    7. I think your right about him being scared to lead men on the field if you watch the news conference hes a little goofy, his demeaner anyway. He has got the skills for sure but don’t jinx the guy watch next year he blows a knee or something.

    8. The spread OPTION is a gimmic offense, like what Texas or Missouri uses. The “spread” formation, as Oklahoma uses, is something different all together, and is similar to what the Arizona Cardinals use in the NFL. I agree, though, that Georgia is more of a typical NFL offense, but Stafford is overrated. Without his big arm, we aren’t having this discussion.
