Is Mats Sundin Playing Tonight?
Total Pro Sports - After an 8 month layoff, Mats Sundin is finally ready to play on Wednesday night. Sundin said Tuesday that barring any setbacks, he will play Wednesday night against Edmonton at Rexall Place.
"I think I am ready and I am anxious to play, of course. I'm looking forward to getting back playing the game but, at the same time, I want to make sure I'm ready physically so I can stay in the lineup" -Mats Sundin
Mats Sundin skated between Kyle Wellwood and Mason Raymond the last three practices. Mats also traveled with the team later in the day to Edmonton, according to the Vancouver Sun, he also participated in 5-on-4 and 5-on-3 drills.
Sundin's teammates are looking forward to playing with him, especially Henrik Sedin and Pavol Demitra.
"It's fun to watch him and it's going to give us a big boost and a lot of confidence, for sure," said fellow Swede Henrik Sedin. "When you see him out there, you can really tell he's one of the top players in this League all-time."
"It's great he's finally here," said forward Pavol Demitra. "It's a huge game. Edmonton is playing great right now so if Mats can help us, it will obviously give us a little more jump. I think he came at the right time and definitely he came to the right place."
Think about what the possibility of a player like Mats Sundin would do to a potential playoff contending team? The addition of Sundin will greatly improve the atmosphere on and off the ice with the Canucks, he is a true leader.
Hopefully Mats can produce and help his team like everyone hopes, if not, he will be the laughing stock of the NHL, especially The Toronto Maple Leafs.

I hope he does well
I don’t think he will hurt them that’s for sure, he’s one of the better players in the NHL.
I think he will help in the long-run, but they’re placing too much on him that he’s going to be some big “saving grace” for the Canucks before he’s even gotten there. Only time will tell.
He certainly will. He’ll make their powerplay far more dangerous and will give them depth at 2 lines, meaning that other teams will have a harder time matching up against them. For example, should the opposing team use their best line to match up against the Sundin line or against the Sedin line? Either way, one line is going to get less coverage and more opportunities.
As the ex-captain of the Leafs, and Olympic gold winning team Sweden, Sundin also brings a wealth of leadership to a team without any clear cut leaders. Should be fun to watch.
Luongo is still their key to success, but Sundin will help the Canucks.
He is a leader and he will help the Canucks with a bit of team chemistry. I would love to see a swedish line of Mats Sundin and the two Sedin bros.
Will he help them? Absolutely, he’s an asset to any team. Will he bring them a Cup? Doubtful.
yes. but just when he starts to play:P
and that could take for ever
It won’t be enough to advance them an extra round in the playoffs (if they even get there)
if he wanted a cup he should have went with the rangers, as the east is an easier road than the west.
