Wings Close To Long-Term Deal With Zetterberg

0

Henrik ZetterbergTotal Pro Sports - After first reporting that Henrik Zetterberg declined a massive 10 year, $75 million contract earlier this week.  The reports out of Detroit Red Wings camp have said they are close to signing last years Stanley Cup MVP and one the NHL's top winger's Henrik Zetterberg.

It has been reported that the deal would be worth $7 million over a 10 year span.  Detroit would like to finalize a deal with Henrik before the March 4th trade trade deadline, general manager, Ken Howlland had this to say,

"We've made progress in the last two weeks." and "There's still a little work to be done, but I'm optimistic."

If a deal cannot get done with Zetterberg however, the Red Wings will be looking to extend the contract of Johan Franzen or Marian Hossa. We believe the Red Wings will have to sacrifice one of their stars, but be assured Zetterberg will not be the one. He has meant to much to the team over the years and has several great years left in him, a deal should get done soon.
