Michel Therrien Fired By Penguins

0

Michel TherrienTotal Pro Sports - It seems that the Penguins have seen enough of Michel Therrien as they let the man that led them to the Stanley Cup Finals last year go.

The Penguins fire Therrien one day after Pittsburgh blew a 2-0 lead to the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs. The Penguins have named Dan Bylsma as theirĀ interimĀ coach, Bylsma joins the Penguins with 25 games remaining in the season and the team on the brink of missing the post season.

Ray Shero had this to say about the move,

We believe we need a change in direction and, with 25 games remaining in the regular season, our goal remains to finish strong and qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs."

The Penguins needed to shake up the locker room as it seemed the players were just not motivated to play for Therrien. The Penguins are not the same team as they were before the Hossa trade, they gave up some key role players and have been unable to find the right mix this year.

We will see if Bylsma can inject some life into the team and carry the momentum into the playoffs, he has a lot of work to do and little time to do it.
