Total Pro Sports - In honor of the recent Chris Bosh accusation made by his former girlfriend Allison Mathis that he is a deadbeat dad. We have compiled a list of who we think are the Top 10 Athletes Who Are Deadbeat Dads.
Deadbeat parent - Is a pejorative term referring to parents of either gender that have freely chosen not to be a financially supportive parent in their children's lives. Primarily used in the US and Canada, the gender-specific deadbeat dad and deadbeat mom are commonly used by the child support agency to refer to men and women who have fathered or mothered a child and willingly fail to pay child support ordered by a family law court or statutory agency such as the Child Support Agency. Yes, a deadbeat dad is obviously someone who tries to avoid paying for child support. But in our opinion not paying for child support and fathering many children with multiple women is not only contrary to the values and morals set out by our society, it also ethically inappropriate for public figures who influence the vulnerable minds of their young and old fans. Can this be considered a deadbeat dad? We will leave this up to you to decide and to the conscious of each of these individuals that we hold with highest esteem.
10. Chris Bosh - We don't know just yet if he the prototypical deadbeat dad, but he is being accused by his former live in girlfriend Allison Mathis. We hope Chris can pull through this because he is a great guy and probably means no harm.
9. Willis McGahee - Everyone probably remembers McGahee most for his gruesome knee injury during the Fiesta Bowl. But Willis McGahee makes our list for having 3 children with 3 different women in a short amount of time. Reportedly 2 of the children are with 2 different school teachers and one of whom was married at the time.
8. Glen Anderson - Who would have thought an NHL'er would have been on the list? Glen Anderson is most famous for winning 5 Stanley Cups with the Edmonton Oilers and another with the New York Rangers. He represented Canada at the 1980 Olympic Games and represented Canada twice at the World Championships and the Canada Cup. Back in July of 2002 Glen Anderson faced jail time because he failed to pay his monthly child support totaling the amount of $112,000 owing to his then 12 year old son.
7. Mike Tyson - What would a top 10 list be with out Mike Tyson. Tyson has four children from three different mothers. Even if Tyson does support his children you have to feel sorry for the kids who call Iron Mike their father.
6. Karl Malone - Most will remember Karl Malone for his illustrious basketball career with the Utah Jazz. But did you know that NFL tackle, Demetrius Bell is an offspring of Karl Malone. Karl has never had any contact with Demetrius who's mother had him at the age of 13 years old when Malone was a sophomore at Louisiana Tech. When Bell was 18, Malone delivered a harsh message that, according to several reports, amounted to, "It's too late for me to be your father, and you'll earn your money on your own."
5. Evander Holyfield - Professional Boxer Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield had a career that most people could only dream of with 42 wins, 10 losses and 2 draws. Holyfield is reported to have at least 11 children, with numerous women. Not bad for a guy who was at one time a born again Christian.
4. Kenny Anderson - Is most remembered for holding out after he was traded to the Toronto Raptors. Back in August of 2006 the New York Post claimed that the former NBA All-Star is a deadbeat dad. He stiffed at least five of his seven children since leaving the NBA, three women with whom he has kids confirmed. Tami Roman his first wife says he owes the children about $100,000.
3. Ricky Jackson - Nobody probably remembers 6 time Pro Bowler Ricky Jackson. Ricky played with the New Orleans Saints for 12 years and was honored in the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame. Ricky makes our list for top deadbeat dads because he has an outstanding child support bill of $130,000 and is "one of the ten most wanted deadbeats in Louisiana".
2. Shawn Kemp - Shawn Kemp wins the runner up award, he played in the NBA for 14 seasons with the Seattle Sonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trailblazers and the Orlando Magic. But Shawn will be remembered most for his sleeping around. Shawn had 7 children with 6 different women and it has been rumored that there were far more. Kemp also had his confrontations with the law back, in April of 2005 he Kemp was arrested in Shoreline, Washington he was found with cocaine, about 60 grams of marijuana and a semiautomatic pistol.
1. Travis Henry - I remember the days when Travis Henry was putting up huge numbers for my fantasy football team. Now, he has fathered a football team of his own, having eleven children with ten different women. Say what you will about Henry, but at least he is consistent. Those stats make him the undisputed king of Athletic deadbeat dads.

How exactly does having a lot of children make someone a deadbeat dad? You’ve got one guy on here where you put up some actual evidence of someone avoiding child support. The rest of the guys apparently have had multiple children with multiple women. Again, how does that make them a deadbead dad?

The article should be “Black Athletes Who Can’t Keep it in Their Pants” not necessarily deadbeat dads. Only 3 you actually show any evidence that they’re not paying their child support.
Karl Malone actually has been tied both fathering twins and to Demetrius Bell. Basically he’s never refuted paternity on both. Both happened when he was still in college. Demetrius’ mother was only 13 when she gave birth. Yikes. That means Karl was 18-19 and having sex with a 12 or 13 year-old girl. Nice Karl.
If you read anything at all about the life these guys lead you know it’s basically the Tom Leykis’ dreamworld – women are literally throwing themselves at you constantly. Groupies are very common and they hang out at arenas and follow teams and team players around all the time. Consider Magic Johnson, for example, who contracted HIV because he was sleeping around on his wife. The temptation is simply massive and frankly as bad as it all sounds I doubt many of us would be much better if we were all so tempted by gorgeous women.

Give the guy a break….he is a great guy who does a lot for the community and for kids! I am appalled to see this report and see my man Bosh at number 10………….Innocent until proven guilty! I refute your inclusion of Glenn Anderson being a dead beat father. First of all his first child was born out of a casual relationship . Second of all Anderson did keep up with his child support payments. Then he struck a deal with the mother of the child O’Conner and gave her a lump sum payment of 85,000 in 1998. O’Conner had the nerve to say he defaulted on his child support payments four years later in 2002. That is not a dead beat father. Further I am a woman and I receive child support payments and with my ex in which it is court ordered that he also pay for our children’s extra curricular activities that they had been doing during our marriage. Trying to get the extra money he owes me out of him is a real struggle and it does not involve thousands of dollars. When he finally pays after fighting with me over it, I do believe I detect a tear in his eye giving up the money he is court ordered to pay. Further more my ex at one time did default and stopped paying his child support payments for almost two years. When I received a fair size sum of back support payments I used the money to benefit my children in which it enabled me to buy them a nice above ground swimming pool. This Patricia O’Conner tried to make a living because she bore one child from Glenn Anderson. O’Conner moaned and whined that her son wanted to play hockey and she could not afford it, well she could have applied that 85,000 dollars to her childs wish as child support payments is in fact to benefit the child. Furher O’Conners excuse was she was out of work. Well you know what, as a single mother I have been out of work, and even though I too am educated I took any job I could get to help make ends meet at diffrent intervals. I mean I took some demeaning jobs that were in the telemarketing field at times until I found something better. I found that demeaning of my edcucation, however, It helped to feed my children and pay the bills. Child support is not suppose to be where one party makes a living it is suppose to help enhance the child’s life. This is the perspective of a woman that does receive child suppport payments. As for him not seeing his son, I have a feeling that O’Conner made that a difficult transaction. Many people that are split up both men and women try to use the children as a vice to get to their ex’s. I can’t stand my ex but I have never allowed my children to see that, in fact they will say they love their father because I never asked them to hate him. Glenn Anderson is not a dead beat father. Hell I wish my ex would give me a lump sum payment of 85,000 dollars, trying to get an extra $20 out of him that he is ordred to pay is like world war 2.
Glenn is now settled and married and has a daughter that seems to love her father from what I seen when his jersey was retired. I hope that he and his son get together on thier own without O’Conners intrusion.

What about deadbeat dad football player Toronto Argonaut Peter Crepin. He will not pay support for his two children.
What if you house a woman and her child from her previous marriage and she has been single and down in a financial matter allow her to come and live with you promise to pay the minor expenses. Later get her foot in the door never pay any thing, then get pregnant with your child refuse to go to work , and your house in foreclosure, goes on with her life with other men ,tells you i don’t owe you shit , and go f**k yourself. Had to force her to move and 2 weeks later file child support on you and at the same time employed under DSS or Child Support office?
I realize some of the fathers may be considered dead beat dads because of their failures to make court ordered child support payments. I ask though, what is said of the mothers of these children? In my opinion, a woman that has irresponsible, unprotected sex and then decides to have a baby with a man with just one child he has not supported should have ALL of the blame placed on her. Before she got pregnant, did she have the best interest of the child on her mind then. They knew the men were dead beats before they got pregnant. The thing that enticed them was the thought of receiving $85K lump sum payments. I’m quite sure that is more than their annual salaries.
There are many parents out there, both women and men that fail their obligations to their children. Not just financially, but also by not providing the love, support and spiritual guidance they need.
Money is one thing. It is needed to survive. But, even if these men did write a cheque every month, more should be required of them.
There is many women and men that make bad choices and have children out of a proper family home. Me included. I have a teenage daughter from a 5 year relationship I had with a my high school sweetheart. We were young and dumb. And trust me I feel bad about it.
But this is a man that walked away totally for ten years. I never saw or heard from him.
Around her 10th birthday, all the sudden money started coming. I guess a switch went on in his head after all those years. I never took him to court or asked for it. He just started to pay.
I am thankful for that. Life has improved. But now he is on his third child with a third woman.
It is painful for me. He never visits or helps me deal with the issues of raising a teenage daughter.
The money helps. But it is not being a dad.
I could not have known who he was going to become in life. Sometimes women are very unaware of the lifestyle the men lead. Afterall most men obviously are not admiting to cheating and fathering children they dont want.
There are probably stupid groupies out there looking to get pregnant and cash in. But I mean seriously, how many of those morons could really be out there.
Most of the time, it is just the girl next door stuck with the responsibilities of being a mom and a dad and paying all the bills.
From a broken hearted single mom, that never had the stomach to see her ex in court, so never bothered.
How can someone like Rickey Jackson be a deadbeat dad owing $130,000 when he is on national television and on the radio? Can’t he be made to pay? Can’t his wages be garnished? Certainly he is making money.
