Spinning Backfist May Be MMA KO Of The Year

18

Spinning Backfist May Be MMA KO Of The YearTotal Pro Sports - Spinning backfists don't always work out for the best, but when they do, they can be dangerous.  Just ask Estevan Payan, who ate a clean one from Yahir Reyes in during their fight at Bellator VI.  The shot left Payan out and earned Reyes the victory and strong consideration for the MMA knockout of the year.

The fight is rather non-eventful, as the highlights prior to the KO show, but at around the 35 second mark of the clip, as the two combatants are standing, Reyes throws the wild shot and the sound says it all.  Even the commentator is sure this will be a You Tube hit, and he was right.

Just see for yourself.

nice move, but I hate MMA fighters who do nothing but fall to the ground and hug people when they get charged, IT’S ANNOYING TO WATCH!!!!

    5. His elbow was what knocked the guy out from the backfist. NOT his fist. So kind of a fail there.

@Jojo – Not sure what clip you were watching, but clearly at 1:03 you can see it was his hand that landed.

    7. I love these guys who get a lucky-shot KO and then grandstand around the arena like they’re friggen superman. There’s no glory in a cheap win.

    8. lame, the guy who did the backhand fist was totally getting his ass handed to him just previously then pure chance got him back in the game. it didnt even look intentional but just a fluke like he didnt expect it either then he acts all cocky – what a loser

    9. No from 0:53 it doesn’t look like the hand connects at all, it looks like an elbow but yes from 1:03 it looks more like the palm. Also again at 1:08 it doesn’t look like the palm connects. So I’d have to say 1:03 is deceiving and it was a knockout by elbow.

    10. clearly, that was the biggest fluke ever. once the guy was incapacitated, the striker had no clue what to do with the lifeless body below him. he sort of tried to choke and punch him at the same time.

i’d like to see how he does in his next fight…

    11. remailednet – clearly an elbow, can’t see how you can see it any other way tbh

    12. I was sitting 8 feet in front of them.. It was NO elbow — wrist/back of fist..

    13. wasnt a elbow the fucken fist nailed him in the cheek

    14. If you want to see some real ko’s look at Dan Henderson

    15. that ko sucked he got a lucky shot and that’s it
