The Stat Line Of The Night – 06/08/09 – Sean West

0

sean-westTotal Pro Sports - After getting off to the best start in the entire league, the Florida Marlins have fell on rather tough times.  They now find themselves in fourth place in their division, with only the lowly Washington Nationals under them.  In desperate need of a turnaround, Sean West did all he could on the hill for them last night against the San Francisco Giants.

Wins come a lot easier when your pitching staff is shutting out the opposition and that is exactly what West did.  Going 8 solid innings before handing the ball to reliever Leo Nunez, his brilliance allowed the Marlins to get out to a 4-0 lead and never look back.  Giant batters never seemed to stand a chance against the lefty, getting only two hits off him and striking out six times.  such a performance would earn Sean West "The Stat Line Of The Night" for Monday June 8th, 2009.

The Marlins must now build off this perfomance and try to string together some consecutive wins if they expect to once again compete atop their division.  With the Braves, Phillies and Mets all ahead of them in the standings, it will be tough to move up from fourth, but this is the MLB and there is still plenty of games left to be played.
