Jarkko Ruutu Bites Andrew Peters Hand

January 7, 2009

Jarkko RuutuTotal Pro Sports - A couple of weeks ago Don Cherry on coaches corner had nothing good to say about the last place Senators.  He called them thugs and added that he thought they may just steal your car, because of the way they were dressed.  Now today, Jarkko Ruutu of the Senators Bites Andrew Peters hand during a game.

I wonder what he will say this Saturday night about the Senators and Jarkko Ruutu bite?

The Senators where in Buffalo taking on the Sabres on Tuesday Night when this all went down.  A skirmish ensued at the bench and Peters and Ruutu go at it.  As Peters grabs Ruutu in the face with his glove still on he bites it.  It looked as if Jarkko Ruutu was a hungry lion ripping out a piece of meat from his freshly killed prey.

The replay shows Ruutu taking a nice chunk out of Peters glove and then Peters grimacing in pain.  The force of the bite has yet to be determined and it seems as if Peters fingers are still intact.

We'll just have to wait and see if commissioner Gary Bettman steps in and hands down a nice suspension.  We hope so!

If you don't believe us just check the replay out.

Avery Missing In Action

January 5, 2009

Sean AveryTotal Pro Sports - A lesson learned well soon find out?  We think that Sean Avery is nothing but a head case that belongs with the rest of them in Hollywood.

A good hockey player at best, his ability to get under opposing players skins and give his team 150% every shift is why teams love to have them on their squad.  If Sean Avery could lose the Hollywood attitude he definitely can be a longtime player in the NHL.

But for now he's just a lost soul trying to find himself.  We hope makes the right decision and chooses the one that made him famous.

More NHL Ice Crew Girls Please!

January 5, 2009

Blackhawks Ice Crew GirlsTotal Pro Sports - We came across these beautiful Ice Crews Girls back in Carolina attending a Carolina Hurricanes hockey game early last year.  So you ask, who are are the Ice Crew Girls? Think of cheerleaders on ice, cleaning the snow around the goalies net and skating around the ice getting the fans all rallied up during a TV timeout.

A fantastic idea, so I wondered why back in Toronto the Leafs never had this?

Let me correct myself, the Leafs actually do have an ice crew.  They are 45+ year old men who look like penguins as they waddle onto the ice to clean the snow around the nets.  Can you picture it?

The Ice Crew Girls are an eye catcher and pleasant site to watch and they are desperately needed in Toronto.

The Flyers Want The Winter Classic Next Year

January 2, 2009

Winter ClassicTotal Pro Sports - After huge success with the 2009 Winter Classic in Chicago at Wrigley Field this past New Years Day, the Philadelphia Flyers have expressed their interest in hosting next years Winter Classic Game.

The Flyers are not the only team who are interested in hosting next years game.  The Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs have all submitted their requests to the league for the upcoming games.

Rumors are swirling already that the City of Boston will host the next years game at Fenway Park, the game will see the Boston Bruins and the New York Rangers battle it out on the sacred grounds of Fenway.  It would also be nice to see an out door game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens keeping the Original 6 theme would be great for hockey.

The idea of having the Outdoor game is a brilliant idea to market the NHL in the United States and bringing fans back to the hockey.  Having the game in the States again next year is the way to go.  Boston, Philadelphia or New York would all be great places for The 2010 Winter Classic.

Athletes Should Be Allowed To Party

December 20, 2008

Mike Richards partyTotal Pro Sports - A Loyal reader of Total Pro Sports emailed this to us today.  It was in response to the article written this past week on Philadelphia Flyers Like To Party!!!. This is what Shawn from Philadelphia had to say about the Flyers partying with a fraternity.

Shawn, Philly - The Frat WANTED Philadelphia Flyers guys there, and also, they are 23 years old!! That’s absolutely college age. I was 22 when I graduated, and while most might be 21, there are a TON of people in their early 20’s at these parties. These guys are just having some fun is all, and have every right too. If they were 30 years old, I could maybe see your point, but I’d still leave ‘em alone in the end.

Remember, these guys never had the time to party, they were all under EXTREME pressure of the Canadian Junior System (far more intense than other systems, I know that, and I’m not even Canadian), and we don’t need to get into how much pressure is put on these kids at such a young age and how people feel about it, but this all ties in. I say, give them a break and let them be. They do go to very classy places and are sighted all the time by the way. It isn’t like they are doing this all the time anyway. Read more

Philadelphia Flyers Like To Party!!!

Mike Richards At Frat Party

Total Pro Sports - Even Pro athletes like to party with college kids, as reported first by sportsbybrooks.com. Mike Richards,  Scottie Upshall and Jeff Carter were all seen at a Temple University Fraternity party late Thursday night, drinking all their free alcohol.  As stated by a Temple University fraternity’s president.

So they came up, essentially they just chilled near the bar, kept getting all the free drinks, well drinks we paid for, which is great we paid for the Flyers to get trashed at our date party.  They were very chill, we asked them to take a lot of pictures there were very friendly.  Apparently one of the guys there hit on my date, kinda funny cuz I didn’t get any (not surprising).

Boston.com Error ‘Caps Shit Down B’s’

December 12, 2008

Washington CapitalsTotal Pro Sports - The title of this post speaks for itself, "Caps Shit Down B's".  This headline is not a mistake it was found on Boston.com website after the Boston Bruins lost to the Washington Capitals Wednesday night.

The Caps Shit Down B's heading is found under "Good Sign for the Yankees - Sabathia" and is one of the top headlines for sports yesterday night.

I guess the editor was really upset the Boston Bruins lost to the Capitals.  We truly think the editor meant "The Caps Sit Down The B's".

Take a look at the picture, We'll leave this one up to you?

In the annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss and the 14th year in existence, the Calgary Hitman fans were asked to come to the game with a minimum of 1 stuffed teddy bear.  After the first goal scored by the Hitman's Brandon Kozun, a flurry of stuffed teddy bears were tossed onto the ice for arena attendants to pick up and bring to local charities.

"It is amazing how this hockey event has grown," said Dave Wilson, Retail Market Manager Petro-Canada. "From the first game 14 years ago when there were 1,500 bears to tonight's game when there were 22,722 bears collected.
