Shaq spits fire

June 24, 2008

In response to a recent posting on this site, I want to give my opinion on Shaqs rap about Kobe Bryant.

In true Hip Hop fashion the Big Diesel ripped into the reigning league MVP in a humorous and entertaining fashion. I loved every second of Shaqs rap; I hope he records it one day. Maybe, it should become the new entrance theme for the Boston Celtics at home games. I think that everything he said was true, especially that Kobe can’t win without him. I have always liked Shaq a lot more than Kobe because he was at one time a better player and will always be a better person. Shaq is everything Kobe is not, he is a good teammate, not a very good free throw shooter, but is funnier than Mrs. Bryant.

One of my favorite parts of the song was when Shaq ripped on Puffy. I liked this part because Puffy and Kobe are similar in their annoyingness. In fact, they are also similar in that they have made successful careers for each other by riding the coattails of bigger stars.

The unfortunate side to the story is that Shaq may have made a mistake by using less then appropriate language in the rap, but the Big Aristotle is still one of the most unique and entertaining personalities in all of sports. Kobe, on the other hand, is the little brother who always gets picked on and goes home crying when things don’t go his way.

Why L.A. Why?

June 23, 2008

Mike CammalleriNow why in your right mind would you trade Mike Cammalleri? Hello, Dean Lombardi, I'm talking to you!! Cammalleri, who turned 26 last week, had 19 goals and 28 assists in 63 games last season.

His best season was 2006-07, when he had 31 goals and 46 assists in 81 games. Yes, that's right, Dean traded a 26 year old, soon to be star, to the Flames for the 12th overall pick? Give me a %*&!@# break. Are you a couple of cards short of a full deck Dean or what!

Stuff like this makes me sick. Yes, I'm a Kings fan, but still, how dumb are you. And to make things worse, they go and trade the 12th pick to Buffalo for the 13th pick and a 3rd round pick? Ahh, hello, Dean, are you there. Don't you think, if Buffalo wants that pick that they would give alot more than just a third rounder and there 13th pick? I guess not Dean, you donk. Anyways, that's all i got to say about that!

I'm extremely ticked, as you can tell, but I'mhappy for Mike cause he's a great player and hes gonna make a mess with Jarome Iginla by his side. If he can stay healthy he can easily reach the 50 goal plateau, and possibly reach 100 points in Calgary.

All you fantasy players out there here's a player you might want to draft earlier then normal in most drafts. Well call Mike our semi sleeperpick for the 08/09 season. Coming off an injury plagued season and playing with one of the worst teams in the NHL, Mike is do to have a great year with the Flames.

Go Mikey Go! Make the Kings eat it!

You’re not Jordan! NBA Finals Game 6

June 18, 2008

Sitting in the TD Banknorth Garden last night with two of my friends, I realized that I had just witnessed a game most people could only dream about seeing. It didn’t matter to us that we paid $1,300 a ticket, $450 for a plane ride and $385 for a hotel room, for me, it was worth every penny. To anyone who has not had the chance to watch a team raise a championship trophy, I must say, it is truly something you will never forget. The Boston Celtics absolutely destroyed the Los Angeles Lakers by a total of 39 points making it the biggest win in NBA finals history.
One thing I will never forget are some of the chants the Boston fans came up with during the absolute massacre. They chirped and chirped the Lakers relentlessly. One chant that was emphatically yelled a bunch a times was “You’ve been Rondod”, which was rather unique. The best chant of the night also was the best chant I have ever heard, as the fans let Kobe know he has nothing on Jordan. The crowd just erupted and began chanting “You’re Not Jordan, You’re Not Jordan, You’re Not Jordan”, it was music to my ears. We got back to the hotel room after partying on the streets with the Celtics fans, turned on ESPN and watched the sports highlights for the night. We never really got to see or hear what was going on the floor after the Celtics big win, as there were way too many people on the court. When the Celtics highlights came on and Kevin Garnett was being interviewed by Michele Tafoya, everyone in the room realized how important a championship can be. A very emotional Garnett, in his own way let the world know what a championship really meant to him.

This display of emotions proves that sporting events are more than a show, and some players are there for more then the money. They are playing a game they love, trying to achieve greatness, and last night the Celtics were great. Many times players leave a legacy behind long after they retire, a legacy that survives not only in the stat books but also, in the minds and hearts of their fans. One day I will be able to tell my children I was there when the big man in green won it all and explained to the world that “Anything is possible.”

Celtics will take control

June 12, 2008

Kevin GarnettTonight is game 4 of the NBA finals and it is make or break time for Lakers. If the Celtics win tonight, the series is done as they would have a choke hold on the Lakers, However, if the Lakers win it is a brand new series. I have a strong feeling that the Celtics will win tonight because they usually don’t lose back to back games. Also, Garnett and Piece had bad games and they should look to rebound well in game 4.

One wildcard in tonight’s game to watch out for is the health of Rajon Rondo. If he is hurting Doc Rivers has indicated that he will have to play the seldom used Tony Allen at the point position. If Rondo is out or limited in any way during the game it could be very bad news for a team with little depth at the point guard position. Other than Allen, the other guards on the roster are Eddie House and E.T. (Sam Cassell).

I really hope that the Lakers lose tonight because they haven’t played all that well. Aside from Kobe, the other big name players on the Lakers have soiled the bed lately. Specifically, the over hyped Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, last game they combined for a grand total of 13 points, which is garbage. If both of these guys play that bad again game four will easily go to the Celtics. The smart money tonight is on the Celtics, who will win and take control of the series.

Lakers/Celtics series dropped from Casinos

June 5, 2008

Don\'t Bet on it!Sportsline - Don't Bet on it! Harrahs Entertainment has dropped all there betting lines from the Lakers/Boston series, becuase Gary Loveman bought 2.4% share in the Boston Celitcs last year.

Under NBA rules, Harrahs is barred from accepting wagers becasue there is a conflict of interest. This means that 13 properties in Nevada alone will not be accepting wagers on the NBA finals.

Pick of the day, June 3rd

June 2, 2008

DodgersOverall we are now 3-2 on the season with last nights Anaheim Angels play coming through. We have won 3 consecutive games and we can keep the ball rolling.

Todays pick were taking the LA Dodgers (-130). The pitching matchup Dodgers Penny (5-6, 5.66) vs Rockies Francis (1-5, 6.12). Today were taking the Dodgers even though they have yet to prove themselves this season. They are playing a struggling team in the Rockies and facing a pitcher who can't seem to find the same stuff he had last year. Now on the other hand Penny and the Dodgers don't have much more to show for this year, they both sport a loosing record. We like this pick is because, the Dodgers have a winning record at home (16-11) versus the Rockies who sport a supperb record of (8-24) on the road. The Dodgers also have a winning record versus the National League West division (12-9), and the Rockies having a (7-21) record versus their divison. The Rockies have also lost 8 staright games, yes they are do for a win but we dont see them beating the Dodgers today.

Pitching Notes

  • Penny is 9-0 with a 3.28 ERA in his last 13 starts versus the Rockies, and 14-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 23 career starts.
  • Jeff Francis (1-5, 6.12 ERA), who is 0-1 with a 4.38 ERA in two starts versus Los Angeles this season. But Francis is 4-2 with a 2.96 ERA in 11 lifetime starts against the Dodgers.
