Undervalued Fantasy Football Mid-Round Bargains
August 31, 2008
Drafting these overlooked Fantasy football players offers excellent value at reasonable costs to all fantasy football teams. Were taking advantage of these players, as everyone goes with the big name players hoping to give you the push to the top. We feel these underdogs or sleepers will help you reign as number 1.
Thomas Jones, RB, New York Jets: With the additions of guard Alan Faneca, fullback Tony Richardson, and tight end Bubba Franks upgrades the New York Jets running attack significantly. Watch out for Jones to take advantage of great blocking and huge holes for long runs in 2008. Were running with this and drafting Thomas Jones as high as our first running back on our fantasy football team. This is well worth the shot.
Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears: With such talented and hyped up rookies Darren McFadden and Jonathan Stewart getting selected early in fantasy football drafts, we like the chances of Matt Forte to compete for the same kind of fantasy statistics. Fortes combination of speed, size durability, running skills and receiving skills will serve great for fantasy teams as he will be on the field with the Bears for most downs. With the upgraded offensive line of the Chicago Bears, we can see Matt Forte having a nice rookie year. Well take our chances with Matt, take him no higer then a number 2 or 3 option on most fantasy football teams.
LenDale White, RB, Tennesse Titans: White ran for his first 1000 plus yard season and included 7 touchdowns last year. In a Titans conservative run focused system, he carried for over 300 times, one of only 6 running backs last year to do so. Were expecting a big year from LenDale, were not taking him as our number 1 running back but were making him easily our number 2 option. If you can steal him as a number 3 back don't let him go to far.
Kevin Smith, RB, Detroit Lions: With the addition of Rob Marinelli as head coach, establishing an effective running attack along with a strong defense are 2 main goals for the Lions as a team this upcoming year. These changes will benefit Kevin Smith, he can easily average 20 carries per game. If your all about taking chances in fantasy leagues, Smith is one to go with. He can easily be your number 2 option. Well just have to wait and see.
Draft these players, to only improve your team and giving you a better chance to win each week. Remember these are sleepers so don't rely on them to single handily win the fantasy football league themselves.

Overpriced Early Round Fantasy Football Ripoffs
August 27, 2008
Drafting these Fantasy football players early in your fantasy football league in 2008, will severely downgrade your chances of hoisting the trophy at the end of the season. So be smart about every pick you have, and think how they may or may not help your fantasy football team.
Brandon Jacobs, RB, New York Giants: Brandon Jacobs in 2007 was promoted to featured back in the Giants offense. Well boy did he flop as a fantasy football runner, rushing for 26 yards in the season opener and then missing the next 3 games due to injury. After returning from injury, he produced nicely as a fantasy back for 6 consecutive weeks. But in weeks 12 and 13 he was sidelined due to hamstring problems. In 2008 we would be cautions of picking Brandon Jacobs earlier then the first 3 rounds on any fantasy football team. The New York Giants just give to many touches to different running backs. Picking Brandon Jacobs early may result in your fantasy football team flopping early in the year.
Reggie Bush, RB, New Orleans Saints: Reggie Bush not only had an opportunity to shine last year, but he had a chance to take sole reign as featured back on his New Orleans Saints team. With Deuce McAllister going down in week 3 with a season ending knee injury. This left the door wide open for Bush to show the world why he is the best running back in the NFL. This didn't happen, Bush managed a measly 3.7 yards per carry and a total of 581 rushing yards adding 4 touchdowns. Our recommendation is to leave Reggis Bush off your fantasy team, even as a third stringer we woul not select him. Other then that, if you want to give him another shot because he is Reggie Bush, taking him as a third option on your fantasy football team may be well worth the shot.
Willie Parker, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers: It will be very difficult for Willie Parker to be the number 1 back this year, after getting injured in the second last game of last season and with the drafting of very talented running back Rashard Mendenhall out of Illinois. Willie will have to prove he is still the featured back. We think that with the addition of Mendenhall, Parker's fantasy status will fall a lot. Less touches, less production will equal an overall decrease of fantasy points. Don't be afraid, taking a chance with Willie Parker as a number one back is still a decent move. But remember with Mendenhall right behind him, one mistake during the year Parker could easily fall to a second option back.
Roy Williams, WR, Detroit Lions: In his first 4 seasons, all Roy Williams has accomplished is 1 1000 yard receiving season and has yet to score double digit touchdowns. In Every fantasy football year Roy Williams seems to be drafted in the top 10 of wide receiver's, with the likes of Randy Moss and Chad Johnson, where still trying to figure out why? We know for a fact this year he's definitely staying of our list of wide receiver hopefuls. With the passing offense of Mike Martz gone this year, the addition last year in the draft of Calvin Johnson and with the new coach and the run first offense. You can be sure the Williams will again struggle to put up those fantasy points. Roy Williams has all the talent in the world, just don't make him as your first option on any fantasy team.
So remember drafting these Fantasy Football Players will only hurt your team, be very cautions of your fantasy football selections and pick to win.

Top 5 Overrated Fantasy Wide Receivers
June 28, 2008
Here is a look at some wide receivers that will frustrate fantasy owners all year:
1. Matt Jones
This former college quarterback was once viewed as a top prospect coming out of the draft. His combination of size (6’6) and speed displayed at the combine had teams drooling over his pro potential, its too bad he hasn’t lived up to the hype. The emergence of Reggie Williams last season as a red zone target and free agent acquisition Jerry Port means that Matt will have a limited opportunity for success.
2. Micheal Jenkins
Jenkins was once so highly regarded by the Falcon that they actually burned a first round pick on this guy (29th overall). He has never proved that he deserved to be picked so high as he is yet to breakout and have a 1,000 season. The Falcons seem to have found a number 1 WR in Roddy White, and Laurent Robinson looks good going into his second year so Jenkins could be the odd man out.
3. Mark Clayton
Clayton is another first round bust from the now infamous 2005 draft, which included Troy Williamson, Mike Williams and also Matt Jones. Clayton also has the unfortunate luck of playing for the Baltimore Ravens who appear unsure as to who their starting QB will be on opening day. Avoid Clayton when draft day comes and your team will be better for it.
4. Muhsin Muhammed
Muhhammed was once a solid fantasy wide receiver, not anymore. He is simply too old and too slow to play a position that demands speed and quickness. His last good fantasy season was in 2004 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers. Even though he has been reunited with his old pal Steve Smith, he still won’t have enough of an impact to give your team any help.
5. Javon Walker
Walker is the only player listed here who has the potential to have a good season if he is physically able to play. There are two things that are holding him back one is that he has a broken jaw and orbital bone, the other is that he plays for the Oakland Raiders. If you think that Walker will have a good season then daft him, but make sure he is buried on your bench and not in your starting lineup.
Honorable mention: Joe Horn, Drew Bennett, Chris Chambers

Top 5 Fantasy Quarterbacks
June 27, 2008
Here is a look at the Quarterbacks who will help your team win the fantasy football championship this year:
Reigning league MVP and Super bowl loser Tom Brady, will play this season with a chip on his shoulder and pick up right where he left off last year. Another year with Randy Moss and Wes Welker should allow Brady to have another solid season. He won’t throw for 50 TDs again, but he might be somewhere in the 40’s. In any format best, Brady will be a top pick.
If there is one sure thing in the NFL it is that at the end of the season Manning will be a top 5 player in almost any fantasy league. The status of Marvin Harrison is uncertain for the upcoming season as he deals with a lingering knee injury and legal issues, this should not detract much from Manning’s on field performance. Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez should step up and be the beneficiary of many of Peyton’s Passes.
3. Tony Romo
Entering another year as full time starter for the Cowboys, Romo is poised for an enormous statistical season. Dallas has a dynamic offense with no shortage of playmakers that will light up the scoreboard this year. It will not be a surprise if Romo ends up as the top fantasy QB this year. Do not hesitate to take this pivot with an early pick, you won’t regret it.
D.A. can thank Brady Quinn for holding out of training camp last year and allowing him to win the backup QB spot on the Browns. This set the stage for Anderson to surprise the NFL and almost lead the Browns to a playoff birth. He will have the benefit of throwing the ball to Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow once again, along with newly acquired deep threat Donte Stallworth. Anderson should have an excellent season on a much improved Cleveland team.
Coming off a less than solid year I expect Palmer to pull it together and put forth an excellent campaign. The fact that Palmer had an off year might be good as he could be available later than expected in most drafts. The Bengal’s have one of the best receiving cors in the entire league, with T.J. Housmandzadeh and Chad Johnson. They also have a bad defense which means they will be playing many games from behind, which in turn will mean more passes for Palmer and more points on the board.
Honorable Mention: Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Hasselbeck, Drew Brees
