Located In Orchard Park, smack in the middle of a community. When sunday comes, Orchard Park shuts down and everyone goes to watch their beloved Buffalo Bills.
The Bills were established in 1959 by owner Ralph Wilson and began playing in 1960 out of War Memorial Stadium. War Memorial Stadium was built in the early 1930's with a capacity of only 47000 it was needed that a new stadium be built. Ralph Wilson began talks with the city of Seattle because approval was not granted to him in Buffalo. Once word spread that the team may be moved, the city of Buffalo approved on a 130 acre lot in Orchard Park. August 17th, 1973 the first game was played at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
The Buffalo Bills were the first team in the National Football League to sell the naming rights of the stadium. They sold it to Rich Foods "Rich Stadium" for 25 years at $1.5 million a year. Later in 1998 the stadium was renamed after their found Ralph Wilson.
Over the next 5 years the Buffalo Bills alongside the NFL have worked out a deal with the city of Toronto, to play 5 of their December home games at the Rogers Center. This will be interesting for fans in Toronto as they have always dreamed of having their own NFL team. This may just be a test!
