Tonight’s game was dubbed the battle of former teammates, with the Yankees A.J. Burnett up against Roy Halladay.  The Jays ace showed the world why he is still one of the best pitchers in the Bg Leagues, pitching a complete game 5 hitter against the Yanks.

The game also marked Alex Rodriguez’s first game back at the Rogers Center since admitting to the world he took steroids when he was playing with the Texas Rangers.  Jays fans showed little remorse for A-FRAUD booing him every time they had the chance.  Some fans even created signs showing their displeasure for Rodriguez.

The best sign of the night has to go to these creative Jays fans who were seated in the lower level.  Their sign read,

Call The Doc A-Rod Needs A Shot

Unfortunately, on this night it didn’t seem like A-Roid or the rest of the Yankee’s weren’t enjoying the Doc’s prescription.  What he was giving them apparently didn’t have enough “juice” on it.  Guess its a good thing Roy’s fastball is all about the movement.

Staring today, Major League Baseball has suspended the customization of “A-Fraud” on all MLB jerseys.  A-Fraud was the nickname given to Alex Rodriguez after he admitted to using steroids from 2001-2003.

“MLB.com has banned the new A-Rod nickname from the personalization feature on replica jerseys on MLB.com. MLB.com spokesman Matt Gould told CNBC that the league does not allow fans to personalize products with anything that is deemed inappropriate, derogatory or profane.” [CNBC]

The MLB may have stopped the purchases of “A-Fraud” on the back of jerseys, but I can bet you can think of a couple other local stores in your area that would be more than willing to customize your jersey for you.  Especially if you don’t live in the New York area, this won’t be a problem.

The beautiful brunette girl that A-Rod was fondling and partying with in the Bahamas along with the New York Intern has finally been indentified.  The lucky lady or shall we say lottery winner is model Melissa Britos.

“Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez was spotted in Miami Beach over Valentine’s weekend, gazing into the eyes of his gorgeous new belle, model Melissa Britos.” Reported the NY Daily News

Melissa Britos was already linked to Alex Rodriguez back in early December the same time that Alex was linked to Madonna. There were reports back in December that Alex Rodriguez was obsessed with Melissa and first met her at the opening of the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida.  I guess she doesn’t mind A-Rod’s hair plugs.

“Britos, who graced the pages of the 2008 Bridal Fashion magazine, was linked to Rodriguez at the end of last year and the pair are now dating, according to sources.”

Take a step back and put yourself into Alex “The Umpa Loompa” Rodriguez shoes for a minute .  All the money, the fame, the talent and the fortune in the world, would you get married and keep a relationship longer then 2 months going?………………………………….I didn’t think so!!!

It wasn’t enough that Alex Rodriguez admitted to the world that he has used steroids and cheated between the years of 2001-2003.  From their rumors surfaced that he was related to the “Umpa Loompa’s” because of the resemblance of both their orange skin complexions.

Now today after reading that A-ROID partied it up with a New York Intern in the Bahamas, hours before the steroid news broke.  We noticed in the pictures that were taken at the club in the Atlantis Casino and Hotel that Alex Rodriguez may possibly be a frequent visitor to the Seager Hair Transplant Centre.

Judging by the pictures you would not be able to tell that A-ROID was about to announce to the world that he cheated.  The brunette girl he was fondling in the pictures also seems to be enjoying A-FRAUD’s orange complexion and his similarities to an Umpa Loompa side.  Was A-ROD’s interview with Peter Gammons all a show or was he serious about the mistake he made?

10 p.m. We enter Atlantis. “A-Rod is here!” someone whispers. Or maybe they didn’t whisper it. You could just tell someone was famous in the room because of the way everyone was acting. Not knowing that he has been all over the news (we were on vacation too), we are not surprised that he has jetted off to the Bahamas for the weekend — isn’t that what athletes with inflated salaries do with their time?

10:15 p.m. As we proceed from the bar to the casino floor, we notice that all the major news stations start breaking news about A-Rod’s confessing to steroid use. Awkward!

10:20 p.m. We hit the casino floor, where our guy friends are playing poker at a blackjack table nearby. A-Rod is seated at the edge of the table, alone. He is intently focused on the game. Clearly, he needs some good luck.

10:45 p.m. Eventually, we proceed upstairs to Aura, the club inside the casino. Our friends have scored a table — which happens to be right next to the corner booth where A-Rod is sitting! We wonder if, at this point, he feels like he knows us well enough to say hi? Glance at him expectantly, waiting for him to break into giant white grin that says, “Don’t I know you from twenty minutes ago?” Alas. He is typing on his BlackBerry. To whom? His wife or Madonna? He is a man of contradictions.

11 p.m. He introduces himself. “I’m Alex,” he says, and we die. The security guard then ropes off his table. But we are in!

11:05 p.m. Oh, but only for a moment. Two women, a blonde and a brunette, sashay over and proceed to bump us out of the immediate vicinity of A-Rod … but not far enough.

11:30 p.m. Make small talk with “blonde bombshell,” as his attention is clearly focused on the brunette at this point (see picture). She is 19, and from Virginia Beach. “What brings you to the Bahamas?” we ask, innocently. “We’re here for Alex,” she says. “He’s going through a really hard time right now.”

11:45 p.m.: After we exhaust all possible topics of conversation, a moment of uncomfortable silence ensues as we simultaneously realize we are from two different worlds. She is part of a celebrity’s entourage. We, however, are merely hangers-on of that entourage.

12:02 a.m.: Madonna’s “Hung Up” blasts over the speakers.
We look pointedly at “Alex” and whisper to our new friend, “This must be awkward.” She smirks and nods her head in agreement. We’re bonding!

12:05 a.m.: Wanting to play second fiddle no more, she gets up to redirect A-Rod’s attention. She snags the brunette and performs a girl-on-girl dance duet involving lots of intertwined legs and shimmying. A-Rod, slouched in the banquette, looks semi-amused, insofar as his face will allow it.

12:05 to 1:40 a.m. : Continued dancing.

1:40 to 1:52 a.m.: Three-way canoodling.

2 a.m.: The three of them depart together, neglecting to say good-bye. Decide they were just caught up in romance.

I was hoping this story would end up in A-ROD’s Bridge Suite at the Atlantis.  I guess not, just another day in the life of Alex “Umpa Loompa” Rodriguez.

You guys remember 2003? That was the year that baseball started randomly testing players to get a feel for whether or not steroids was a problem in their sport. If I remember correctly, if 5% of the players tested in that random focus group tested positive, then MLB would institute mandatory random drug testing in the sport. Well guess what? More than 5% tested positive (shocking), and because of that we now have a drug testing policy in Major League Baseball.

The names that tested positive for roids during that dry run of drug testing back in ’03, were never supposed to be made public. However it seems that even though that list of 104 drug cheats was to be destroyed, it wasn’t, and now slowly but surely is being leaked. Barry Bonds is rumored to be on that list  (surprise!), and it seems to be one of the major pieces of evidence that prosecutors will use against Bonds in his upcoming perjury trial. Today, we get a second name, maybe the biggest name in the sport, the man known as A-Rod. I , for the sake of the game, would pray that this is untrue, but Sports Illustrated did their homework. S.I. apparently has four unrevealed sources confirming that Rodriguez is on that list. Which leads me to believe that they are extremely confident that there accusations are factual.

I guess with all that has happened in the steroid era, there is not a name that should surprise anyone when it is linked to the juice. I have to say though while not surprised, I am very disappointed. I watched that night when A-Rod did his interview with Katie Couric. She flat out put him on the spot and asked if he had ever used performance enhancing drugs, or ever been tempted to use them. Alex said, “No”.

I am not a huge A-Rod fan, too much of a pri-Madonna for me (pun intended), but I really looked to this guy with his incredible talent, and God given gifts, to be the guy who would break the all time home run record and put all the debate about the Bonds/Aaron debacle to bed. Now he is just as tainted as everyone else. It doesn’t matter what he does now, his credibility is shot. He can pee in a cup everyday for the rest of his career and there will still be fans who question. He has tarnished his yet to be complete legacy. That makes me a little sad, not because I am a Rodriguez fan, but a fan of this game that has thrilled so many over many eras and generations.

All I can say is Joe Torre is somewhere appreciating the fact that A-Roid just took him and his tell all off the radar.
