Apparently Mathieu Perreault wasn’t the only teammate the Alex Ovechkin has inflicted pain on over the past week.  Matt Hendricks has also been victimized by the Capitals’ captain, as he took an Ovie shot off the ear during practice, resulting in the grotesque sight displayed in the above image.

Hendricks was on the wrong end of an Ovechkin shot during the Capitals’ off-day on Saturday, as an errant shot from the Russian sniper ricocheted off the glass, striking Hendricks on the ear.  He rushed off the ice quickly and was tended to by the Capitals training staff, along with the Penguins’ plastic surgeon.  Together, they were able to stitch the cartilage back together before eventually stitching up the rest of the ear.

Judging by the before (above) and after (below) images, I’d say they did a pretty good job.

The 24-year-old winger had himself a career-game, as he scored three goals, including the game winner, during a 5-3 victory over the Boston Bruins.  And while Ovechkin wasn’t able to enjoy the moment with Perreault on the ice, he was there to give him a heavy dose of shaving cream-to-the-face following the game.

While Ovechkin may have you believing that this was a friendly exchange between the two teammates, I can’t help but think that blinding Perreault with the strong sting of shaving cream in the eyes is simply Ovie’s way of saying, “only I score the hat-tricks around here kid.”

Apparently in Russia they do things a little different, as their rap videos are accompanied by a skinny female in baggy pants, a kickboxer and Alex Ovechkin.

The Capitals’ superstar hasn’t been doing much on the ice this season (he has only 35 points in 43 games, which ranks well outside the league’s top 30), but that hasn’t stopped him from getting plenty done off it.  In addition to wining and dining the lovely Maria Kirilenko, Ovechkin has also found time to step into a studio with Russian rapper Sasha Belyi and sing a verse for his song, “Champion.”

I’m not sure Ovechkin knows anything about rapping or being a champion, but I think we just found the Caps’ new victory song!

Shanny may have another “head-shot” to review following last night’s game between the Ottawa Senators and the Washington Capitals.  However, this head-shot, which Alex Ovechkin delivered on Chris Neil, wasn’t the type that typically causes concussions.  Instead, it was the type of head-shot that is capable of causing erectile dysfunction.

Whether or not this type of head-shot is penalized in a similar manner to the other head-shots that we have become accustomed to seeing in the game of hockey remains to be seen.

Here is a look at the incident.

Ovechkin recently posted a photo of himself and Maria on his Twitter account.  In the accompanying message, he refers to Kirilenko as his “girlfriend,” while stating “she is my queen.”

With only 8 goals and 10 assists through the first 23 games of the 2011-12 NHL season, many have suggested that there may be something causing a distraction to Ovechkin’s game.  I believe we have found said distraction.  You can check out what we are talking about in the images below.

As you would expect from any star player who is left on the bench when his team needs a game-tying goal in the final minutes, Ovechkin was not impressed with his coach, and he voiced his displeasure by calling Boudreau a “fat f*ck.”

The Caps would go on to tie the game on a goal by Nicklas Backstrom, and Backstrom would add another goal to earn the Caps the 5-4 win in overtime.  After the game, Keith Jones asked Ovechkin about Boudreau’s decision.  He had the following to say:

“The Ward and Brooks Laich line played unbelievable today. They scored like four goals. I think it’s a coaching decision, so it’s working.”

Boudreau also commented on the decision during his post-game press conference:

“I thought other guys were better than him and I thought there was just a chance that other guys might score the goal. I mean I’ve gotta put out the guys that I think are going to score the goal, and 99 percent of the time Alex is the guy I think is going to score the goal. I just didn’t think he was going to score the goal at that time tonight.”

The Caps did come away with the win and Boudreau’s decision did turn out to be the right one.  Ovechkin was also not benched for the remainder of the game, as he recorded an assist on Backstrom’s game-winner in overtime.  That probably won’t stop this story from garnering plenty of attention around the league, but it also appears as though this is just one of those problems that can be easily resolved by an Ovechkin hat-trick the very next game.  That could spell trouble for the Carolina Hurricanes, who are set to host the Caps on Friday.

Okay, so it isn’t exactly a bong.  It’s a hookah.  And what he’s smoking from it is probably shisha.  Not weed.  However, that wont stop us from questioning Alex Ovechkin’s off-season regimen.  Not after hearing that in addition to the hookah, the Caps’ forward also ordered two dozen large glasses of beer, fried steaks and salads for he and his friends during a recent visit to a Russian restaurant named “Column.”

According to an employee at the restaurant, Ovechkin’s tab came out to 30 thousand rubles, which is equal to just over $1000 USD.  However, his tab was covered by a VIP member at the restaurant who recognized the Russian star.  I guess the only thing cheaper better than paying for a beer with rubles is getting it for free.

It appears as though the First Lady of the United States ditched her husband to hit up a bar for some drinks one night.  And while doing so, Michelle Obama just so happened to run into the second most popular man in Washington, D.C., Alex Ovechkin.

I am not quite sure who approached who in this case, but what I do know if that Ovi may want to watch that right hand of his if he wants to continue playing hockey in the same city – or country for that matter.

I wonder if President Obama is still thanking Russia for Ovechkin now?

As their way of saying thanks for creating the inspiring tune, the Caps invited Pauly and his entourage out to the Verizon Center on Sunday to watch them take on the Chicago Blackhawks.  After taking in an entertaining contest that saw the hometown Caps prevail 4-3 in overtime, Pauly and his crew headed down to the locker room to exchange handshakes and hugs with some of the Washington players, including Eric Fehr and Alex Ovechkin.
