While getting to know his contestants during Thursday night’s airing of the popular game show, reigning champion Bob Kennedy spoke about how he met his wife at a pick-up ball hockey game.  And when Bob mentioned that “he showed her how to handle a stick,” Alex couldn’t help but think of what Kennedy may have actually been referring to.  However, on second though, he figured it would be best “not to go there.”

And we are glad he didn’t.

This doesn’t rise to the level of idiocy we saw this weekend from Dre Bly, Abdul-Jabbar definitely comes off as somewhat of a moron.  A full category is devoted to UCLA, Kareem’s alma mater, and on the first question from the category he screws it up.  Not only is the question an easy one about UCLA, but it is literally his line from the movie “Airplane”.  In the scene where the kid calls him out on being Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and gives him a hard time about playing defense, he has a memorable line telling the kid to tell his dad to try to “drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes”.  The question has a blank for Walton’s name and the answer is obviously “Who is Bill Walton?”  Obvious to some I guess.

And even if he forgot the movie and the line, did he really think he played for the Blazers?  At least Alex Trebek played it off with his classic sense of humor.  He had no problem making fun of Kareem right to his face, just like he did to Bill Belichek earlier this year.  I’m sure Kareem was just nervous, but he should be able to answer that one in his sleep.

Fans from around the league called it poor sportsmanship, but Alex Trebek from Jeopardy called it a “Hissy Fit” and used it as a question on a past Jeopardy.  Heres the question,

“One Second from defeat in the 2008 Super Bowl, this losing head coach threw a hissy fit and stalked off the field.”

Answer -  Who is Bill Belichick!
