Ethier had a single and a game-winning home run in extra innings yesterday to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 5-4 victory over the Florida Marlins.  However, he also struck out in the sixth inning, which led to a rather loud, expletive-filled outburst as he made his way back to the dugout.

If this is how he swears when he is recording a hit every game, I’d hate to hear what he is going to sound like when his hit-streak finally comes to an end.

The 2011 MLB season is still quite young, but among the most interesting story lines that have garnered the attention of the fans throughout the first month are the Rockies’ and Indians’ incredible starts, Jared Weaver’s 6-0 record, and Andre Ethier’s consistent bowel movements.

Last time I checked, I believe my sh*t streak was approaching somewhere around eight years.  I wonder what Ethier’s is at?

Ethier was Rockie’s pitcher Josh Fogg’s worst nightmare last night as he factored in three of the Dodgers six runs, in what would end up as a 6-1 final.  The Dodgers’ right fielder blaster two homers on a night where he would go 3 for 4 at the plate, driving in three runs, and as a result, earn himself “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Wednesday, August 26th, 2009.

The Dodgers now find themselves back in front by two games with just over a month remaining in the season.  They have seen their hot start and early lead in the division diminish, but will get one more chance to give themselves some added breathing room today when they take on the Rockies for the finale of their three-game set.  This battle will likely come down to the final week, but the Dodgers should be worried about those “cardiac kids” in Colorado.  Late season comebacks are nothing new to them.  They have done it before, and it looks like they may be on their way to doing it again.

The incident occurred at the Dodgers Photo Day on April 18, 2009, when Andre Ethier was asked to pose for a pic and told the fan “I don’t take photos, I’m sorry”.  We don’t want to get all on Andre’s back here.  He did reject the fan in a nice way and was not rude about it at all, but who in their right mind shows up to photo day not wanting to have pictures taken of them.

I was never a fan of pictures, but I always showed up to picture day at school with a smile on my face and a freshly combed head of hair, courtesy of mom.  I guess he’s not much of a photo day guy, but you have to love the “thumbs up” rejection.  Way to play it cool Andre.
