Most notable among the Pirates batters, who managed to rack up 15 hits in a 11-1 victory, was third baseman Andy LaRoche. Stepping to the plate five times in the night, LaRoche recorded a hit at each appearance. Twice he sent the ball over the fence for a home run. He also got himself two doubles and a single, accumulating six RBIs and scoring four runs. It was enough to earn him “The Stat Line Of The

Night” for monday, September 28th, 2009.

It has been a rather rough season for LaRoche and the Pirates. The team has recorded only 59 wins and the bats have been a big reason for that. LaRoche has been among those who have struggled, batting a dismal .259. This game may help his confidence, but if they expect to get out of the NL Central basement next season, they will have to avoid waiting until the end of September to finally cash in some runs.
