Houston Cougars vs Air Force Falcons

Armed Forces Bowl Game: Preview

The game has some interesting story lines that may decide which direction this game will go. This will be the second match up between these two teams, the winner of the first game was the Air Force Falcons 31-28. The Houston Cougars have not been good defensively this season, especially against the run where they rank a disappointing 90th in the nation. The Falcons will like to hear that as their rush offense ranks 5th in the FBS at 268.9 ypg.

The Cougars are a completely opposite unit offensively as they are very difficult to contain. The team is led by Case Keenum, who finished the season with 4768 passing yards and 43 touchdowns this year. The Falcons have had problems defending the pass, they rank 46th against the pass and will need to be at their best if they look to slow down the air attack of the Cougars. Both defenses struggle at what the opposition does best, so we imagine their practices will be dedicated to those issues and coaches will have to come up with a scheme that limits the other teams strengths.

Armed Forces Bowl Game Prediction

We can go back to a game these two played earlier in the season, however, we do not want to take that result and transfer it to the Armed Forces Bowl Game. That game was played under different circumstances and these teams have developed as the year has carried on. The game will be played in Texas, this gives the Cougars an obvious home field advantage as they look to win their first bowl game since 1980, an 8 game bowl losing streak.
