Instead, that came from a very unlikely source: the ball girl.

Yes, there was yet another Aussie Open ball girl making the highlight tapes.   You can check out this one’s amazing one-handed grab following a Roger Federer fault in the video below.

I guess this cute ball girl should have left the cockroach on the court for just a little longer so that Hewitt could have absorbed a few more rounds worth of luck.

On a side note, I’m not sure why she was so embarrassed following the incident.  Most people wouldn’t have even picked the insect up in the first place.  Check it out.

So does sitting field-side, dodging foul balls and being ogled by the seniors in the stands and commentators’ press box beat being ogled by the drunk, grease-filled men at the bar?  I guess only this lovely blond knows the real answer to that question.

And speaking of questions, here is another one.  Why don’t more teams use this sales tactic during the regular season?

During the ninth inning of a pre-season game yesterday afternoon between the Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays, a foul ball off the bat of Elliot Johnson seemed to get more attention than you would expect.  At first you may find yourself asking “what are all those men in the background looking at,” but once the Comcast cameras cut to the hot Hooters ball girl running along the first base line with her shorts wedged up her ass, it all begins to make sense.

And to think that this was only spring training.  I can’t wait to see the crop of talent the Phillies will be providing once the regular season begins in a few weeks.

Llorda was injured early in the first set when he went to chase a ball and crashed into the umpires chair.  He also knocked over a ball girl in the process, and both were slow to get up.  The Frenchman would manage to get to his feet and helped the ball girl up as well before giving her a hug.  Unfortunately he would not last much longer, retiring after the next point because of an injury he sustained during the fall.

Haas was determined to put on a show for the deprived crowed, so he found another opponent.  The young ball boy would rally with Haas for a bit, and Tommy gave a few other ball boys and girls a shot at him as well before leaving the court to a standing ovation.  Now we will wait to see if any sign of fatigue settles in as a result of those extra couple rallies (turn your sarcasm detectors on here).

The Philadelphia Phillies seemed to have the right idea when they started hiring some hot young ladies to grab any arrant balls (get your mind out of the gutter guys).  One of the ladies on their ball girl roster is the lovely Kelli Curci, also a softball player at LaSalle University. After a Shane Victorino liner that went foul.  Kelli was able to pick up her chair, as if to move out of the way, but then made a surprising backhand stab on the ball.  Talk about making it look easy.  And what better way to get the beautiful woman some face time.

The US softball team may want to keep an eye out for Kelli.  She looks like she would fit in quite well, and why not start looking for that next sexy face of woman’s softball in America to replace Jennie Finch.  Viewers of the Marlins vs Phillies game last night got themselves a sneak peek.
