Although Barkley was one of the greatest players during his days with the 76ers, Suns and Rockets, he has since grown old, fat, and appears to have few traces of athleticism remaining in that out-of-shape body of his.  But as he told Conan O’Brien during a guest appearance on his show Tuesday night, he still feels he can “kick Obama’s ass” in a game of basketball.

So what would give the former NBA MVP so much confidence?  Predictability!  You see, Obama is a lefty, and according to Chuck, “he always goes left, and if you just stand there, I’m not sure if you opened up the right side he’d go right at all.”

Barkley has already raced 67-year-old Dick Bavetta at the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.  Perhaps he will give Obama the opportunity to prove himself in a one-on-one game during this year’s All-Star festivities….Just a thought…

If you are a Toronto Raptors fan, like myself, you may not be all that enthusiastic to use them while playing the new NBA Jam for Nintendo Wii.  But like any real fan will tell you, it is a sin to turn against your team in favor of the opposition.  So what other options do you have?

Well, you could always try playing with the Obama-led Democrats or the Bush-led Republicans.  The current President and his predecessor, along with the likes of Bill and Hilary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Sarah Palin have all been added to the newest edition of this classic childhood basketball video game.

And for the finishing touch, he puts his stamp of approval on this basket, right in the face of the King himself.

The “I’ve been screwed by Tiger Woods” count may be well past the century mark, but according to this clever character, it will never be as high as the “I’ve been screwed by Barack Obama” count.  Something tells me that this guy voted Republican.

So why does he feel as though he has been getting screwed by the current President of the United States?  Perhaps it is because Obama had promised change, meanwhile this guy has seen no change at all.  And neither have his pants.  Sorry sir, but Obama is not going to do your laundry for you.

With the beginning of the NCAA March Madness Tournament set to kick off tomorrow, everyone is rushing to get their final brackets in.  It can take some time figuring out which teams will be able to pull off the upset, and which top-ranked teams will put together a good run.  Analyzing a bracket can be tough, but everyone seems to find the time to do it.

Even President Obama.

The United States of America’s main man was ready to get back at it once again, after successfully picking North Carolina to take home the crown last year.  So who does he have in his Final Four this time around?  How about Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, and Villanova, with Kansas beating Kentucky in the final.  Seems like a pretty conservative approach for a Democrat, but I guess when it comes to filling a bracket, politics are not an issue with the President.

After receiving a congratulations from Barack Obama for becoming the youngest player to be named playoff MVP, Malkin took out his phone and snapped a pic of  the American President.  That caused a hesitation from Obama and eventually drew a laugh from the crowd, but perhaps they should be worried about who Evgeni plans on sending that snapshot to.

Obama did get the opportunity to throw in a witty remark of his own when he commented Pens’ captain Sidney Crosby‘s size, stating that he “must be fast because there is some big hockey players and he is not one of them.”

It has been just under eight months since Obama entered office, but he has already made himself familiar with the sporting world.  As a sports nut, he couldn’t resist the temptation to shoot some hoops when the Lady Huskies came to visit.  Unfortunately, he left the hockey stick on the rack this time around.

While Sheryl Crow was in attendance to sing the American national anthem, a measly tape recording of the Canadian version, without lyrics, was played over the stadium speakers.  I guess even Major League Baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals are getting hit hard during these tough economic times.  I wonder if President Obama was made aware of this prior to throwing out the first pitch.

Jason Bay, the Red Sox star who was starting in the outfield, is from Canada, but recently got his American citizenship.  That did not stop him from voicing his opinion on the awkward anthem routine:

(T)hey just played a recording of the Canadian National Anthem instead of having somebody come in and sing it. That seemed strange, that they couldn’t find anybody in St. Louis who knew “Oh Canada.” Morneau and I could have done it if they really needed somebody.

If only they would have thought about that before.  After all, Justin Morneau and Jason Bay can’t be any worse at singing than Wade Boggs.  Or can they?

President Obama came out to what seemed to be a mixture of cheers and boos.  We are still trying to figure out if the boos were a response to the continued recession or his Chicago White Sox jacket.

A lefty, like Mr. T, Obama hurled in a short-hop to the Cardinals Albert Pujos, who was behind the plate.  Not a bad effort, and one that should save him from embarrassment.  Thankfully he refrained from following in Mr. T’s footsteps and steered clear of singing “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh inning stretch.  That could have cost his a second term.

During the visit, the Lady Huskies were treated to a special Presidential shoot around at the White House outdoor half-court.  Obama a former high school basketball player, absolutely dominated a few of the Huskies in a short  game of P-I-G.

“He was pretty good from 17 feet,” said coach Geno Auriemma. “His shot’s a little unorthodox, but it goes in … He’s got a little bit of that swagger.” [NHR]

Like every other ceremonial visit to the White House the Lady Huskies gave Obama a basketball signed by the players and a Uconn jersey with #1 and his name on the back.

“Number One – that’s what I’m talking about,” Obama joked. “I will wear it when I’m playing.

Truly a special day that the 2009 Lady Huskies will always remember.  Video after the jump.

The President who is a huge sports fan has been spotted at the Washington Wizards game this year enjoying a beer, he has also made an appearance on Monday Night Football and it has been reported that Obama has made recruitment calls for his brother-in-law who is the coach Oregon State Beavers basketball team.

“President Obama made his picks as a sports fan, not as a politician,” Katz said. “He was knowledgeable about the teams and was even up to date on the latest injuries involving the contenders. He was confident with his picks and delivered an on-camera pep talk for the team he picked to win it all. It was clear that he enjoyed filling out his bracket like the rest of America.”

So if you ever thought office/fantasy pools were illegal you can now rest easy because the President of the United States Barack Obama plays fantasy sports just like you and me.

In her blog she talks about her excitement attending the inauguration.  One quote that we think that Lisa Leslie may want to reconsider editing is when she starts to talk about President Barack Obama entering the room.

“And there he was… OMG, I’m going to faint… He is really tall, handsome and cool; just like he looks on TV. And a little pigeon toed I might add. As he made his way to the podium, he looked at me and WAVED!!! (ok, well he couldn’t miss me standing 6’5 plus heels… Don’t hate, he waved at ME!)”

Leslie is overjoyed her next sentence (and accompanying emoticon) that immediately jumped out at us:

I was truly feeling like a kid at a concert who got touched by Michael Jackson back in the day.

Hmmmmmm, I don’t think she re-read that line before she posted.  I think someone may want to tell her to change it.
