Barry Zito had a terrific season in 2002 when he had a 23-5 record with a 2.75 ERA in 35 starts and went on to win the American League Cy Young as a member of the Oakland Athletics. However, his next four seasons in Oakland were up and down, as he compiled a rather mediocre 55-46 record. The Giants felt that a change of scenery would help resurrect his career, so they signed him to be the ace of their pitching staff. Unfortunately for San Francisco, Zito is not the pitcher he once was as he put together an ugly 40-57 record during his first four years as a Giant.

Things had gotten so bad for Zito that the Giants left him off their post-season roster last year. The move turned out to be the right decision, as they went on to defeat the Texas Rangers to capture the World Series Championship.

Here is Zito hanging out with some lovely ladies.

Seems like a 5-6 record and a 4.86 ERA isn’t enough to get Brewers fans to forget his miserable three innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers last year in game four of the NLDS. Now they are willing to give him up with the starting bid set at one cent. That’s quite the bargain when you consider Barry Zito is making roughly $18 million a year.

The Supan sale has since been taken off eBay which is sad for those who were looking to grab the righty for a great price. Those who missed out on snatching Brett Favre’s F-150 or Tiger Woods‘ Gatorade bottle could have eased their pain with this great bargain. Now they will just have to wait for the next eBay athlete to go on sale.

Hat Tip – [Home Run Derby]

After stating late last year that she was done dating baseball players, it appears as though she is still writing about them. Dating players like Barry Zito, Brad Penny, Carl Pavano and Russell Martin, its likely she been the topic of conversation on more than a couple pitching mounds.

On the road Alyssa Milano was at WFAN’s Boomer and Carton this morning promoting her new book titled “Safe at Home”. She was bombarded with questions during her interview, the one question that stood out the most to us was when Craig Carton asked Alyssa, “Why Carl Pavano?”

While she admitted the dirt on her relationships only takes up 4 pages out of 243 of the book, host Craig Carton peppered her on the age old question, “Why Carl Pavano?”

This what she had to say about Carl Pavano,

“Carl is a great guy. Well this is you know right after he won the World Series, so he was kinda baseball royalty, until he joined the Yankees”

Words spoken by a true MLB Ball Bunnie!!!!! I wonder if her fiance is proud????

After stating late last year that she was done dating baseball players, it appears as though she is still writing about them. Dating players like Barry Zito, Brad Penny, Carl Pavano and Russell Martin, its likely she been the topic of conversation on more than a couple pitching mounds. Now its her turn to do the talking. It will be interesting to hear what kind of news she spills and from what we’ve been finding out about baseball players, that could be just about anything.

As for the forward for her book. That will be written by none other than Joe Torre himself. That just leaves one more question. Is the title, “Safe at Home”, based on how most baseball players described their time with her?
