Table football, or fussball, as it is often referred to, usually requires either two or four players, except when you are playing in Berlin.

You could probably get away with playing a one-on-one or two-on-two game on this giant fussball table, but chances are you will end up doing more running in a 10 minute game than most professional soccer players do on the pitch during a 90 minute game.

He is the fastest man to ever grace this planet and yesterday he reminded us of just what kind of speed he has, blazing past the competition in the 200-meter men’s final to win the gold and set a new world record of 19.19 seconds.  That is the second world record broken by Bolt at these championships as he did it in the 100-meter competition less than a week earlier.  His outstanding performance was easily enough to run him into the record books and in the process, earn Usain “The Stat Line Of The Night” for Thursday, August 20th, 2009.

If there was ever any doubt regarding who the fastest man really is, it has surely diminished as Bolt has now shaved his previous marks in the 100 and 200 meter events, both by 0.11 seconds.  Talk about consistency.  It is amazing to watch this man’s long strides work almost effortlessly while those around him struggle to even keep up.  Bolt has taken the athletic world by storm and there may be no stopping him anytime soon.

Total Pro Sports – Melaine Walker of Jamaica was able to get over all of her hurdles on route to the gold medal in the women’s 400m-meter event at the World Track and Field Championships in Berlin.  Little did she know that there would be one more hurdle in her way following the race, but she wasn’t the one who would be jumping it.

As for prizes awarded to winners, we have seen Caster Semenya become the recipient of a “gender verification test,” but for Walker there would be a piggy-back ride waiting for her following the victory.

Berlino the Bear, the official mascot of this summer’s championships, had been having fun with other competitors, posing to the crowd with men’s 100 and 200-meter champion Usain Bolt before challenging him to a race, and being lifted to the air by Germany’s Robert Harting after his victory in the men’s discus final.

For Melaine Walker, he had a hug for her before offering the champion a ride on his back.  When she accepted and climbed aboard, Berlino began racing down the track.  Unfortunately, those mascot uniforms don’t offer much in terms of visibility.  After picking up the pace, an unaware Berlino crashed into the trolley of hurdles, knocking both him and Melanie to the floor.  Thankfully, they would both be alright and exchanged hugs after getting up from the floor.

A mascot’s job is not always a safe one as you never know when you may be taking the next punch, or in this case, running into your next obstacle.  Next time remember to keep your head up Berlino.

Total Pro Sports – Call him a Cheetah, call him a Gazelle, or just call him the one and only Usain Bolt.  This freak of nature out of Jamaica’s career has been one that would be read in a fictional novel, comparable to Michael Phelps in swimming.

Today in Berlin at The World Championships Usain Bolt proved again why he is the world’s fastest human, running the 100-meter dash in a world record time of 9.58 seconds.  Bolt smashed the competition and his previous world record by a mind boggling .11 seconds.  Coming second was Tyson Gay (USA) in 9.71 seconds, and third was fellow countrymen Asafa Powell in 9.84 seconds.

After the race both Tyson Gay and Asafa Powell were interviewed. “Awesome,” Powell said. “I put everything into it. But I came in second,” Gay said. “I can definitely run faster.” [ESPN]

Words can not describe the talent of Usain Bolt, I don’t think we will ever see another sprinter come close in defeating him as long as he is running.
