And of course by “most notable” I mean “hottest.”

So here you go: a list of 15 hot women who sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

In the spirit of Halloween, Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres and his wife, Gianna, decided to dress up as Jay-Z and Beyonce for a team party.  In an effort to resemble the popular couple as closely as they could, Raffi wore a New York Yankees hat, black sunglasses and a white T-shirt, while his wife wore a sparkling dress.  The couple also decided to paint their skin black, but that addition to their costume didn’t seem to sit well with some who have since claimed that the act of wearing blackface for Halloween is racist.

Individuals wearing blackface as part of their costumes has come under scrutiny in recent years, as many believe it brings back memories of a time when white performers used it to create a stereotyped caricature of a black person.  As for Torres, he was merely attempting to resemble his favorite musician as closely as he could, and did not intend for his costume to be viewed as racist.

The image of Raffi and Gianna in their costumes was posted on the Twitter account of teammate Paul Bissonnette.  With almost 160,000 followers, it didn’t take long for the backlash to start pouring in, sparking the following comment from @BizNasty2point0:

As far as everyone trying to call “Racism” because Raffi dressed up like Jay-Z can simmer down. He’s a huge Jay-Z fan.

The Coyotes have also responded to the matter, issuing the following statement in support of Torres:

“There was absolutely nothing racist about Raffi and his wife’s costumes. Raffi is a huge fan of Jay Z and his wife loves Beyonce. It was a Halloween party. The fact that this was reported is ridiculous. We will have no further comment.”

We couldn’t agree more with both Bissonnette and the Phoenix Coyotes.  If Torres was attempting to emulate the negative stereotypes many associate with black people while wearing blackface, then yes, this would clearly be an act of racism.  That was certainly not the case here, so everyone should stop the hating and enjoy the holiday.

It should come as no surprise that when considering the hottest women from any era, the current crop usually wins out. As hot as Marilyn was, I’d rather see Megan Fox. If you don’t agree, you’re probably really, really, old. However, we at TPS strive to honor the old guard, so as we work our way down the list, we’ll enter a “hall of fame” section with some older names that you may or may not be familiar with. If you’re not familiar, take a gander and broaden your horizons, Junior. And in case that’s not enough, we got some duplicates of Bar Refaeli and her more modern cohorts.

Niki Taylor comes in at number 30, which definitely speaks to the hotness level of this list..

Petra comes from the Greek word for rock. As in, her ass looks rock hard.

This video is no exception.  Here’s a quick background if you somehow missed the craziness of the VMAs.  Taylor Swift won the award for Best Female Video.  Most people had thought Beyonce was going to win it, but Swift pulled off the upset.  She seems like a sweet girl and no one really begrudged her the victory.  No one but Kanye.  He raced up on stage and told her she was great, but she didn’t deserve the award, Beyonce did.

This parody video.  Georges St. Pierre fills in for Kanye, telling Swift that she won the fight and fought well, but he can’t wait to fight her.  The implication was that GSP, a beast of a human being, would pummel Taylor Swift, a skinny young girl.  I’m not sure if he is trying to send a message about wrestling for Canada in the 2012 Olympics or not.  Either way, due to a halfway decent cut of the video, it almost looks like GSP is actually on the stage saying those things.  The combination of Taylor Swift, country music star, and GSP, MMA champion, is entertaining  to say the least.

Federer went on to beat Roddick 5–7, 7–6(6), 7–6(5), 3–6, 16–14 in what may have been the greatest final in the tournament’s history.  Now Kanye has a message for Federer concerning his win.

“Yo Roger, I’m really happy for you.  I’m gonna let you finish, but Andy Roddick’s Wimbledon effort was one of the best efforts of all time.”

Okay, so Kanye didn’t really say that, but you can only imagine had he been there and got his hands on a mic, he very well may have.  After all, this guy seems to love hearing himself talk.

We are not sure exactly who made this creative piece of work, but Andy Roddick sure seemed to enjoy it judging by his Twitter response.

You have to admire the way Roddick has been taking his Wimbledon defeat this time around.  Is it me, or has the loss made him more popular than any tournament victory he has ever achieved?

After finishing last season with an 0-16 record, the Lions have made some improvements, drafting quarterback Matthew Stafford out of Georgia with the first overall pick and also aquiring the likes of Foote and  Julian Peterson at linebacker, and cornerbacks Anthony Henry and Phillip Buchanon.  While Stafford may be having all the fun in the world making his transition into the NFL, the others will likely undergo a difficult coping process.

Such a statement is especially true for Foote, as he must endure a season with the NFL’s worst team after several with one of the best.  It can be a difficult situation to sum up, but FOX’s Chris Myers seemed to have hit the nail on the head when he stated the following on air during the Lions’ Sunday afternoon game against the New Orleans Saints:

Foote going from two Super Bowls in Pittsburgh to a winless Detroit team.  That’s like going from dating Beyonce to Whoopi Goldberg.

Truer words have never been spoken Chris, but I would have to argue the prospects of going from Beyonce to Whoopi are much worse than the move from Pittsburgh to Detroit.  After all, there is always the possibility of improvement on the part of the Lions.  I don’t believe Whoopi’s looks are growing any more forgiving as she gets older.
