Sabathia, who just so happened to lead the Majors in wins heading into the game, with 14.

And you can now add number 15 to his win column.

Sabathia was dominant, pitching seven-plus innings, allowing only one run on one hit and three walks while striking out a career-high 14 batters. Sabathia was charged with the Mariners lone run after he walked the bases loaded in the eighth inning and reliever David Robertson allowed one of those runs to score on a force out. However, Robertson and Mariano Rivera would limit the damage to only that single run over the final two innings as the Yankees held on for the 3-1 win.

Aside from a rough eighth inning, Sabathia’s performance on Tuesday night was one of his most dominant this season, with two-thirds of the outs he recorded coming via strikeouts. It is numbers like that which helped him earn “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, July 26, 2011.

Shields was great for the Rays, allowing only four hits and no earned runs over eight innings. Unfortunately, he did allow one unearned run, as Robinson Cano reached home plate thanks to a single and two throwing errors. And that one run was all the Yankees needed, as C.C. Sabathia earned the complete-game shutout, allowing only four hits against while striking out nine during the 1-0 victory.

With the win, the Yankees enter the All-Star break only one game back of the Boston Red Sox for first in the AL East. As for Sabathia, the win was his Major League leading 13th of the season and it earned him the “Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, July 10, 2011.

Sabathia, he was looking to extend a three-game winning streak of his own. Much to the approval of the hometown crowd, both streaks would stay alive.

Sabathia led the charge for the Bronx Bombers, pitching 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. He was pulled from the game after 118 pitches, but not before striking out 13 batters. The Brewers were able to record 6 hits and two walks against the big lefty, but they couldn’t turn any of those base-runners into runs, as the Yankees cruised to the 5-0 victory.

After going 3-3 in his first nine starts of the season, Sabathia has come on strong, winning eight of his last nine starts. His victory last night kept the Yankees 2.5 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox for first in the AL East, and it also earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, June 20, 2011.

Sabathia to a seven-year, $161 million contract. This remains the largest contract ever signed by a pitcher in Major League Baseball history.

The Yankees got exactly what they paid for in Sabathia’s first year, as he was a key contributor to their 2009 World Series championship win. C.C. had a solid regular season, putting together a 19-8 record with a 3.37 ERA and 197 strikeouts while finishing fourth in the Cy Young Award voting. However, it was in the playoffs where Sabathia really earned his money as he went 3-1, pitching deep into all five games he started.

C.C. Sabathia’s best work came in the A.L.C.S. against the Los Angeles Angels as he was named the series’ Most Valuable Player. Sabathia dominated the Angels in both of his starts compiling a 2-0 record with a 1.13 ERA and 12 strikeouts, while pitching eight innings in each contest.

Here is Derek Jeter discussing the signing of Sabathia.

Sabathia, takes the mound. Sabathia is putting up another monster year and anchoring a shaky rotation. His Cy Young numbers are impressive, and last night he showed again why some call him the best pitcher in baseball. Taking the mound against the Blue Jays, he led his team to a 6-1 victory and helped them clinch a playoff berth.

Sabathia pitched 8 and a 1/3 innings of 1-run ball. His only big mistake came in the third when he gave up a solo shot to Blue Jays youngster Travis Snider. The Yankees ace was efficient as always, giving up only 2 walks and 3 hits while taking 111 pitches to get there. The outing dropped his ERA to 3.18 and pushed his win total to 21. He also had 8 strikeouts in the win. Mariano Rivera came in to close it out in the 9th.

As the Yankees march towards the post-season they are still a half game behind the Rays. It won’t matter if they get in as division winners or wild cards, as the only measure of success for this team will be a World Series Championship. While the rest of their pitching is shaky, C.C. gives them real hope at the top of the rotation. For now he gets “The Stat Line of the Night”, but he may be seeing a Cy Young award and even a World Series ring very soon.

They have the best home record in the American League and have won 16 straight in “new” Yankee Stadium. It helps when you have a big gun like CC Sabathia on the mound. Those wins just seem to pile up.

Sabathia dominated the A’s last night. He allowed just one hit over 8 innings, struck out 5 and needed just 95 pitches to notch his league-leading 19th victory of the season. He also eclipsed 200 innings pitched for the fourth straight season. He’s a lock to get to 20 wins this season — something he has yet to do over his brilliant career. He’s had 19 twice before.

Sabathia getting to 20 wins is the icing on the cake. He’s already won a World Series and a Cy Young and was the ALCS MVP last year on the Yankees run to the title. His win last night increased the Yanks’ winning streak to 6 and kept their lead over the Rays at 1.5 games. He has The Stat Line of the Night for 9/2/10.

Sabathia had a pretty bad May. For most pitchers, a 1-2 record and a 5.15 ERA wouldn’t have been catastrophic for a month, but the expectations for the former Cy Young award winner are a bit higher. Things did not look to get any easier this month, with C.C. facing both Johan Santana and Roy Halladay. After yesterday, he has now beat them both.

Sabathia had faced Halladay on Tuesday and came away victorious over the Phillies. Now on Sunday he faced his second Cy Young winner of the week and proved totally dominant once again. Sure he has the help of a potent Yankees offense anytime he takes the mound, but he hardly needed it yesterday. C.C. pitched 8 innings of shut out ball giving up no runs, earned or otherwise. He only allowed 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6.

The Mets had won 8 straight games heading into their weekend series with the Yanks. The Yankees put a stop to all that winning two of three thanks to pitching performances by Phil Hughes and now C.C. Sabathia. The AL East is the toughest division in baseball, again, and the Yankees have managed to climb to the top of it. Can they win it all again? Only time will tell that, but for now, they win “The Stat Line of the Night”.

Sabathia (not the real one) can now be seen on the latest commercial for Battlefield: Bad Company 2, where he voiced his disapproval for grenade spam. So how does he get his message across? How about by blowing up a U.S. soldier with his helicopter. Does this mean that the former CY Young winner is against the war in Iraq as well? I don’t know what to make of this.

Stepping up to the plate in the first inning with two men on and a mixed reaction of cheers from Yankee fans holding up “Welcome Back” signs, and boos coming from Orioles fans with Styrofoam syringes, ARod took the first pitch deep and over the fence to give his Yankees a 3-0 lead early.

While his team held on to the lead behind a stellar 9-inning shutout performance from C. C. Sabathia, the rest of the night for ARod and Mark Teixeira (who is supposed to improve dramatically with the return of ARod) were well below par. The duo each struck out in there next two appearances, while Teixeira had one more in him for his final at bat, with ARod following up with a soft groundout.

Going 0-3 with three strikeouts and batting under the Mendoza Line, it looks like not even Alex Rodriguez can save Teixeira. Luckily the Yanks held on to win this one 4-0, and are now undefeated on the season with ARod in the lineup. Just thought I’d like to mention that.

Check out the crowds reception for yourself.
