The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 26-21 to capture the franchise’s first Super Bowl title.

The 49ers took a 20-0 first half lead, led by quarterback Joe Montana who ran for a touchdown and threw for another en route to being named as the game’s Most Valuable Player. Although the Bengals would mount a comeback in the second half, the 20-point deficit was too much for them to overcome. In addition to Montana’s two touchdowns, San Francisco received a record tying four field goals from kicker Ray Wersching.

Since meeting in Super Bowl XVI, the San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals have gone in different directions. The 49ers have gone on to win four more Super Bowls, while the Bengals have made just one more appearance in the big game, losing once again to San Francisco in Super Bowl XXIII.

Here are highlights from Super Bowl XVI.

It was Simpson’s fourth touchdown of the year, and it should have sports stations in America and around the world doing some last-second scrambling in order to add it to their “2011 Plays of the Year” highlight packages.

Check it out.

Ummmm…..Did I miss something here?

For those who may not know, that is former President Bill Clinton hanging out with Chad Ochocinco at a recent birthday diner for the Bengals’ wideout. These two men just so happen to be two of the most popular figures in their respective fields (politics and football), but who knew Chad was such a proud supporter of the Democratic Party and best of friends with one of the greatest Democratic Presidents ever?

Perhaps eighty-five is just looking for some advice regarding the possibility of a post-football career in politics. If so, he went to the right man.

It is no secret that Bengals wideout Chad Ochocinco is not afraid to strip naked and show some skin. Especially when it is for a good cause. And while we can’t quite explain why he decided to bare it all during his morning jog, or while playing the slots at a casino in Vegas, we can tell you that his most recent stripping was done in an effort to help promote animal rights during PETA’s latest advertising campaign.

Just one question: Although he may not be wearing any animal fur on his body, isn’t PETA also against the use of pigskin to cover up a male’s genitals?

Owens went off in front of a prime time audience, recording an impressive 10 receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns. His incredible effort included a key touchdown in the back of the end zone early in the fourth quarter, and he also drew a pass interference call later on in the final quarter, which helped set up a one-yard touchdown run by Benson. Those two scores helped the Bengals make things interesting as they crawled to within six points and had one last chance to mount the improbable comeback during the final minutes, but came up just short.

However, one player who did anything but come up short on Monday night was Terrell Owens. Despite his team losing the game by a score of 27-21, he still earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, November 8, 2010.

Earlier in the off-season, when many were speculating that the Cincinnati Bengals may be interested in acquiring the services of Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco couldn’t help but imagine the possibility of he and T.O. becoming the NFL’s version of Batman and Robin.

And now that the dream has become a reality, this dynamic duo made like their comic book idols and hopped aboard a Batmobile as they look to fight off their enemies in the AFC North. The only question remaining is whether either of these two often outspoken wide receivers will mind playing the role of Robin on the field.

In the meantime, here are a few more pics of these Caped Crusaders.

With NFL free agency well underway, the question on the minds of many was “where will Terrell Owens land?” Rumors had been swirling for some time that he would likely become a Cincinnati Bengal and play along side Chad Ochocinco. In fact, Owens was already talking about changing his name to Terrell Ocho Uno, and he wasn’t the only one getting excited about the possibility of wearing the Bengals’ orange.

Ochocinco himself had been lobbying for Owens, but when Cincinnati went out and signed former Buccaneer, Antonio Bryant, it seemed as though all hope was lost. So Chad was left pondering what could have been.

And that is when he came up with this interesting pic, which was posted on TwitPic. Notice how Ocho Cinco was willing to give up the role of Batman to Owens? Maybe this partnership between two of the NFL’s most outspoken players could have worked! Unfortunately, we may never get the chance to find out.

For all the criticism of professional athletes that goes on when it comes down to it, they are only human and tragedy can strike them just like it can strike anyone else. If you haven’t already heard by now, Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry passed away Thursday morning after he was hurt during a domestic dispute. Everyone connected to football in any way is mourning the death of this young man the last couple days. Chad Ochocinco, his former teammate and friend, helps to sum up all our feelings about such a terrible event in this interview taken in the Bengals locker room

Chad, who is known for his crazy antics and resistance to rules and authority, finally got serious when it came to talking about Chris Henry. He talks about his last conversation with Chris and how they used to check in with each other before games and at other times. He also questions his faith a bit at the end of the clip, wondering how God could take someone so young.

While Chris Henry was no saint during his lifetime, it seemed like he had really cleaned up his act. Regardless of that, the tragedy of seeing someone with so much promise passing away at such a young age is heart-wrenching. I think we can all share Ochocinco’s deep emotional angst over this situation.
