The game of the week was held at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Al.  The match up between the LSU Tigers and the Auburn Tigers was a great cat fight.  At halftime Auburn held an 11 point lead, to only loose the game on the final drive that LSU had.  Keep an eye on LSU as they continue to move up the rankings.

Rounding up our top 5, the Oklahoma Sooners are still #2, the Georgia Bulldogs stayed at #3.  The Florida Gators jumped 1 spot to #4, and LSU rounds out our top 5 with a big win against Auburn.

Our biggest winners this week in our College Power Rankings, were the Utah Utes moving up 5 spots after a big win against Air Force.  The Texas Tech Red Raiders, Clemson Tigers and TCU all moved up 3 spots respectively.

Our biggest losers this week in our College Football Power Rankings for week 4 were again the Oregon Ducks dropping 5 spots to #19.  After losing their top 2 quarterbacks and losing to Boise State they just keep on falling.  The Auburn Tigers and the East Carolina Pirates also lost 4 spots in the power rankings respectively.

3		4-0	-	Georgia rolled through ASU to remain undefeated. The defence played really well and Knowshon Moreno really picked up his play as the game progressed he finished with 149 yards and 2 touchdowns and is averaging a touchdown for every 7.6 rush attempts.
4		3-0	1	If you look at the box score and expect to see Tim Tebow flash some ridiculous numbers you would be greatly disappointed. The Heisman trophy winners numbers are down from last season by design. The Gators are purposely trying to make Tebow a pocket passer, however, he like few others has the ability to make plays when his receivers don’t get open.
5		3-0	1	The LSU Tigers possibly played the game of their season, coming from 11 points down at halftime to win the game. A large part of the success goes to Jarrett Lee who had a rough start but completely took control of the offense in the second half for LSU.
6		4-0	2	I have my vote in for the Heisman Award winner. Chase Daniels is officially on fire! I don’t think there is a better offense in the country right now. Mizzu would have broken through the 50 point barrier yet again if not for turnovers in Buffalo’s end.
7		3-0	1	The Longhorns took care of business against Rice this week. They have a makeup game against Arkansas next week, then they begin an extremely tough Big 12 schedule.
8		4-0	1	The Crimson Tide really impressed this week against the Razorbacks. They went into a tough atmosphere, to play a team that was supposed to be prepared for them and they dominated the game.
9		3-0	2	A week off before Big 10 play for the Badgers, they travel to Ann Arbor next week to play the Wolverines.
10		4-0	3	It seems it doesn’t matter who starts at Quarterback for the Red Raiders they manage to put up a ton of points. Is it the system or the athletes? with few Texas Tech Quarterbacks succeeding in the NFL you be the judge.
11		4-0	-	If they continue to let teams hang around in ball games they will eventually pay a price. They have been fortunate to be on the right end of these close ball games but its a matter of time before they get burned.
12		3-1	-	Ohio St. was better this week against an underrated Troy team however the intensity for a Buckeye team is still not there. They better get it together because it is not going to get any easier as their Big Ten schedule begins next week.
13		4-0	2	What? I thought the Cougars were known for their offense. They have posted back to back shutouts and have outscored their last two opponents 103-0. This team is for real lets see if they can have the same success on the road.
14		4-0	5	Brian Johnson is leading this team the same way Alex Smith led them to a win at the Fiesta Bowl in 2005. The duo of Matt Asiata and Darrell Mack have cast their egos aside and have turned into arguably the best running back combo in the nation. This team may run the table and be playing in a BCS Bowl game.
15		3-1	4	A crushing loss to LSU and the Tigers have no one to blame but themselves. After controlling the line of scrimmage the entire first half, the Tigers gave up way too many big plays in the second half. That offense, although played reasonably well continued to struggle at key times in the game.
16		4-0	1	The offense is clicking, albeit it has come against lesser opponents. They have their biggest home game of the year next week as the Illini come to town, we will see if the Nittany Lions can continue to dominate against stiffer competition.
17		3-1	1	Although the Jayhawks won comfortably they didn’t dominate the game like many thought they would. Following a heart breaking loss to USF, some expected the Jay hawks to own every inch of the field against Sam Houston St, a team that had not played football in three weeks.
18		3-0	2	Sam Swank 12 – Florida St. 3, this was a field goal filled affair. The Demon Deacons caused 7 turnovers, including 5 interceptions, they confused the Seminoles QB’s all game long and the defence was swarming around the ball all game. Impressive display by Wake!
19		3-1	5	The Ducks really felt the effect of losing their top 2 quarterback’s as they fell to Boise St. this week. Oregon made a fourth quarter rally but it wasn’t enough as they three 3 interceptions and missed 2 huge field goals.
20		3-1	4	East Carolina’s 2 upsets to begin the season are looking less impressive with each passing week. They seem to play up to the level of superior competition and down to teams of a lesser skill set.
21		3-1	3	I’m not sure if Clemson is back but they did look good against a Div-1AA opponent half of the duo “Thunder and Lightning” had an impressive showing as James Davis rushed for 3 touchdowns. We will see how they fair against notable opponents.
22		4-0	3	As divisions like the Mountain West continue to develop, teams like the Horned Frogs will get more credit. This team is a legit top 25 team with all the tools to play with the big boys. Do not be surprised if they go into Oklahoma next week and beat the 2nd ranked Sooners.
23		2-1	NR	A huge double overtime win for the Bulldogs salvages their season. After almost blowing a large fourth quarter lead Fresno pulled it out in overtime. This teams bubble may burst if their not careful.
24		3-0	NR	How about the Blue and Orange, they stay competitive every year and always have a few remarkable wins. This week they stun a QB-deprived Ducks team. With not much happening in the state of Idaho but growing potatoes, Bronco fans have something to be proud of.
25		4-0	NR	The commodores are now known for their football program, wait that doesn’t sound right! Bobby Johnson and his staff have this tam playing sound, mistake free football and it has payed off big time. The commodores are 4-0 and in first place in the SEC East.

Saturday also held its own pack of punches as some critical games had some interesting endings. Let us begin in Auburn where the battle of the unbeaten Tigers took place. LSU which was rather lack luster in the first half really opened up the play book in the second, the main reason was Jarrett Lee. He finished the game 11-22 for 182 yards and 2 touchdowns. In a game that was believed a touchdown from either team was enough to win the game, big plays were being made the entire second half. This was a crucial win for LSU as it keeps its national title hopes alive.

A game that probably flew under the radar but had great significance to the teams involved was the match up between Utah and Air Force. This game did not disappoint as the see-saw affair was not determined until the final seconds of the game when Darrell Mack scored one of his three touchdowns in the second half with only 58 seconds on the clock. The Utes now move to 4-0 on the season and may move to as high as 13 this week in the power rankings.

Some other meaningful games included Florida’s dominance over SEC rival Tennessee, Boise’s upset of 17th ranked Oregon, North Carolina State outlasts the surprisingly upstart Pirates of East Carolina, Wake Forest out kicked the Seminoles in their ACC opener and Fresno St. survives a near shocker at the hands of the Rockets.

This week we went 1-2 in our college football plays. We won our play withTroy +21 as Ohio St only won the game by 18 points. In the second game we liked the over in the Missouri/Buffalo game which should have gone over the total if not for the multiple turnovers by both teams in the oppositions territory. We were unlucky to not win this one as Missouri could have easily reached the mid-50′s to low-60′s in points. The third game was a complete misread, The razorbacks did not show up for this game and the Crimson Tide took full advantage from the first quarter and sailed to victory.

Before today’s game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish he led the nation in touchdowns 9 and carries with 104.  In todays game he had 39 carries, ran for 201 yards and had 2 touchdowns.  In 4 games this season Javon Ringer has had 2 games in which he ran over 200 yards and has a total of 9 touchdowns.

Ringer is on pace for a 2000 yard season with 36 touchdowns, making him an easy candidate for the Heisman Trophy.  We look forward to watching Javon Ringer and the Michigan State Spartans come back form and fight for a possible national title.  Be sure to keep your eye on this Senior “Javon Ringer” as he is going to be something special.

This is the first week for my college football picks, so lets get started out on the right foot. I personally am more of a feel for the game guy rather than interpreter of the stats, I feel that numbers are a little deceiving in the college game.  Week 4 has some interesting matchups lets take a look.

1. Buffalo @ Missouri (-34, O/U 72)

Pick: Buffalo/Missouri Over 72 – Missouri is the highest scoring team in the nation at 57.7 points per game. The Bulls may not be able to keep up with the efficient Mizzu offense, however, they have shown the ability to score points this year. The have scored a total of 88 points in their first three games. These two teams are averaging a combined 1025 yards per game in their first three contests, expect a shootout if the weather doesn’t act up.

2. Troy @ Ohio St. (-21.5, O/U 46)

Pick: Troy Trojans +21.5 – The Buckeyes went to USC last week to play the Trojans and now they get the other Trojans from Troy in Columbus. Troy has had recent success in Div-1A since making the move up in 2001. They have stayed competitive against ranked teams in the past, Since 2004, they have nearly upset the likes of LSU, Florida St. and Georgia on the road. Take the points with an underrated Troy team.

3. Alabama (-300, O/U 46.5) @ Arkansas

Pick: Arkansas Razorbacks +300 – This is a classic rivalry between two smash mouth teams. I feel that there is value in the Razorbacks because they always play the Crimson Tide tough. They have the added advantage of their home crowd, this may be the slight edge they need to pull out a victory.  Play this for value, don’t lay large.
