Dauer hit the ground immediately and was bleeding profusely from the face, although Nelson didn’t seem to concerned about rushing over to help his fallen coach. The Rockies’ second basemen didn’t end up playing in last night’s game against the Cards, and I think I know why.

Here are two looks at the incident.

Spilborghs stepped up to the plate six times, recording a home run, a double, and two singles. He would drive in four runs in total, and score three runs of his own. His offensive outburst made him a key catalyst in the Rockies 12-3 victory. It also upped his average to .234 and earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, July 14, 2011.

What sounded like a broken-bat single by Tulowitzki in the top of the fourth, actually turned out to be a rather strange play that we don’t see all that often in baseball. Here is another look at it.

Here is another look at the catch from a one-armed veteran that earned a standing ovation from the fans in Yankee Stadium.

Seth Smith carried the Rockies offense, recording three hits in four at bats and driving in three of his team’s four runs on the night. He did most of his damage with the long ball, hitting a two-run homer in the sixth inning and adding a solo shot in the ninth that gave Colorado a 4-3 lead, a score that would hold thanks to Rockies reliever Huston Street.

Smith has been having himself quite the season thus far. His .316 batting average is tops on his team, while his eight home runs and 32 RBIs have him on pace to reach new career highs in both categories. He has given the Rockies some much needed help at the bottom half of their line-up, and his performance last night was good enough to earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, June 21, 2011.

Last week it was a male fan wrestling a foul ball away from a female during an Arizona Diamondbacks game. The ladies got their revenge over the weekend when a female Rockies fan took out a male Tigers fan who was going after a foul ball along the stairway in the lower bowl at Coors Field. It appears as though the collision not only sent both parties crashing to the ground, but it also caused them both to come up empty handed.

Thankfully, the cameras captured the entire incident, which is bad news for the Tigers fan. After all, no man wants to get barreled over by a female on live television.

With Todd Helton experiencing stiffness in his back, Rockies manager Jim Tracy decided to plug Giambi into last night’s line-up. He entered the game batting .115 with only three hits, one home run and four RBIs, but he would equal or surpass each of those numbers in just five at bats against the Phillies.

Giambi became only the fourth player in MLB history to hit three home runs in a single game at the age of 40. He also added seven RBIs, as the Rockies cruised to a 7-1 victory. Giambi’s first home run of the evening helped him snap an 0-for-18 streak at the plate, and it also upped his average, home run and RBI totals to .194, 4 and 11, respectively. It was a performance truly worthy of the “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 19, 2011.

If chicks really do dig the long ball, then they were certainly digging the Mets’ right fielder on Thursday, as he belted three two-run home runs in five at bats. Those three home runs would be the only hits Beltran would manage in his five at bats, but it was more than enough production for himself and his teammates, as he batted in six of his team’s nine runs, en route to the 9-5 victory.

Following his big day, Beltran now has eight home runs and 24 RBIs on the season, putting him back within striking distance of the league leaders in each of the two categories. With his last two seasons being marred by injuries, many wondered if Beltran still had what it takes to put up the elite numbers that earned him a Silver Slugger in 2006 and 2007. Yesterday’s performance has us thinking that he may still have it in him, as he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 12, 2011.

Tulo and the Rocks hosted the first place San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Cliche perhaps, but it was a must-win game for the Rockies if they want to have a shot at the division title. Tulowitzki provided the excitement again, as he has all September.

Tulowitzki jacked 2 homers and drove in 7 runs to lead the Rockies to victory and avoid the series sweep by the Padres. Tulowitzki has been amazing this month and last night was his third multi-homer game in a just over a week. The 7 RBIs tied a career high for him. He now has a ridiculous 11 homers in September and there is still about half of the month left. He can tie the franchise record for homers in a month by hitting just one more.

The Rockies are 2.5 back with 16 games to play. They still have a shot thanks to Troy Tulowitzki. He has The Stat Line of the Night for 9/15/10.

Ubaldo Jimenez has had an unbelievable season this year. He has looked liked a Cy Young pitcher in every single outing he’s had. In just 11 starts, the pitcher has now accumulated a 10-1 record. He is just the third pitcher to win 10 games in his first 11 starts with an ERA under 1.00 and the first to do it since Juan Marichal accomplished the feat in 1966. With the Rockies matched up against Tim Lincecum and the Giants yesterday, Jimenez had to unseat the reigning NL Cy Young winner to accomplish the feat and join Juan Marichal. He did it with ease.

Jimenez threw his second complete game shutout of the season against the Giants. In 9 innings he only gave up 4 hits and 2 walks. He accomplished the feat with 9 strikeouts on 127 pitches. He had the Giants hitters looking confused and bewildered for most of the afternoon, dominating almost every batter he faced.

As the Rockies try to climb the standings in the recently weak NL West, they have to leap frog three teams to get to first, but there are only 4 games separating those teams. One of those teams is the Giants and thanks to Jimenez’s ridiculously great game they are now only a half game behind the Giants and closing fast. If Jimenez can keep this up, he will be in a good position to help his team make a push of rthe post-season. For now, he will have to settle for a “Stat Line of the Night”.
