Not only did Rose record 35 points, eight assists, three blocks and two steals in 41 minutes of action, but he also made up for his previous struggles from the free-throw line, as he hit 14 of his 15 attempts from the charity stripe on the evening.  Those stellar numbers would help the Chicago Bulls get back to their winning ways, as they escaped Washington with the 98-88 victory.

The win not only keeps the Bulls in first place in the Eastern Conference, but it should also help Rose restore whatever confidence he may have lost from the previous day’s performance, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, January 30, 2012.

In case you haven’t noticed, Adidas has certainly been going “all in” on their latest commercials, and they didn’t hold anything back with their latest ad featuring Rose, as he takes on several Matadors.  However (spoiler alert), there would be no bull-killing on this day.

While this will almost certainly be the first, last and only highlight we see that involves Kobe Bryant feeding a pass to teammate Derrick Rose in our lifetime, it may also be the last highlight reel play we see from any NBA player, or players, for a long time.  So enjoy it while you still can.

It seems only fitting that in a game where the Bulls nearly cement a number-one seed in the playoffs, their star guard, Derrick Rose, essentially cements himself as the Most Valuable Player of the 2010-11 NBA season.  The former Memphis Tiger was unstoppable, scoring 30 points while recording eight assists, five rebounds and two steals.

With four games remaining, the Bulls can enjoy these regular season accolades for the time being, but they will need to move on quickly and begin thinking about the playoffs if they expect to make a deep run this year.  Despite having solid depth throughout their roster, Chicago’s greatest key to success lies in the hands of a single man, Derrick Rose.  He will need to remain in M.V.P. form once the second season begins.  For now, he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, April 7, 2011.

Among their group of stars are two men who may very well be the best in their respective sports at the moment; Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and the Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose.  That is quite the combo, and the addition of Katy Perry makes this a solid trio, but where are all the poker players?  After all, with a name like “Adidas Is All In,” you would think they might show some love for Phil Ivey or Daniel Negreanu.

I wonder how long it will be before companies like Adidas and Nike begin to dip into the pool of professional poker stars.

In what many were defining as a “statement game,” Rose made quite the statement, putting up a career-high 42 points to go along with 8 assists and 5 rebounds, as the Bulls beat the first-place Spurs by a score of 109-99.  In addition to scoring a game-high 42 points, Rose also recorded the Bulls’ final 10 points of the game, making sure that there would be no comeback on this night.

With the win, Chicago heads into the All-Star break on a high note, winning their last four games against some rather stiff competition (Jazz, Hornets, Bobcats and Spurs).   That run of wins leaves them only two games back of top spot in the Eastern Conference, and with Joakim Noah expected to return to the lineup after the break, it may not be long before they find themselves leap-frogging both the Celtics and the Heat in the East.  If they wish to do so, they will need Rose to continue playing like the best point guard in the league.  He did that last night, and it earned him honors as “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, February 17, 2011.

Boozer missed the entire first quarter of the season with a broken finger he suffered before the preseason began.  After a few shaky starts he has started to return to form, capped by last night’s 29-point performance.  Boozer was hitting jumpers from everywhere on the court and collecting rebounds as his frontcourt mate Joakim Noah rode the bench with foul trouble.  Boozer went 13 for 21 from the field and also made 3 of his 4 free throws.  He was also able to snag 12 rebounds.  Luol Deng also scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to help in the effort.

The Bulls are a rising young team in the East, but most experts have them pegged as a team of the future.  With the return of Boozer and the Bulls surprising ability to win on the road early in the season, it is starting to look like their time might be now and not 2-3 years from now.  But for now, Boozer wins “The Stat Line of the Night”.

The Bulls inched back a bit in second, but still came into the 4th down 12 points. The Bulls were down by as many as 23 in this contest, but Rose was fierce. He tied the game at 101-101when he hit on two free throws with just 14 seconds left in the game. Rose was mega-clutch again in the first overtime, tying the score at 111 with 0.1 seconds left with a sweet reverse layup. Then Rose took over in the second overtime by scoring the Bulls’ first five points to give them a 3-point lead — a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Rose ended his night with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and a blocked shot. The Bulls mounted one of the best comebacks in the NBA this season and Derrick Rose has The Stat Line of the Night for 11/24/10.
