Did you even know that people collect vintage sneakers? Well they do. They’re quite passionate about it, actually, and are willing to part with a lot of dough for just the right pair. So the next time your mom/girlfriend/wife gets on your case about throwing out those 6 pairs of old sneakers taking up space in the closet, tell her you can’t because one day they’re going to pay for your kid to go to college.

I enjoy Burger King’s fries as much as anyone, but how much would I pay for one?  And when I say one, I’m not talking about one serving.  I’m talking about one fry!

Five cents, perhaps.  Maybe a quarter.  One dollar is probably the highest I would go, and that would only happen if I was absolutely starving.

But what if it was shaped like a hockey stick?  Would that help increase its value by $8,887?  That is what one eBay seller seems to believe, as he placed his hockey stick-shaped french fry on the auction block with a “buy it now” price of $8,888.88 USD.  Here is his description of the item:

times are tough and having heard of all the wacky things which have sold for thousands or tens of thousands of dollars on ebay i have such an item of my own to sell. Behold it is my Burger King French Fry Hockey Stick which was in a medium french fry container bought at the drive-thru along with 2 whopper juniors here in Arlington Virginia just outside of Washington, D.C. I grew up playing ice and roller hockey and the instant I saw it i knew what it was, a hockey stick. I guarantee to you 100% that this is absolutely authentic from Burger King and not tampered with in any way, it is 2-1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. I would assume that processing from a potato to a french fry at the Burger King factory is 85% automated and 15% by people and you have to admit considering quality control standards that if the computers or people had spotted this one it would have been discarded during processing and never made it to me fried and salted because french fries are supposed to be straight although some places sell them curly, but not Burger King, and being shaped like a hockey stick i guess makes it rare and thus worth money, but how much money? I certainly dont know how you could put a price on this but 8 is my lucky number and my buy it now price reflects that. You know i figure if people can sell cheetos and slices of toast or other food items oddly shaped or resembling something else maybe i could sell mine for alot of money too. So have his strong sales tactics worked as of yet?  Not quite.  Since being posted, the fry has received two bids, both of which have been declined.  Looks like this fry will be turning green and moldy before it finds a new home, if it hasn’t done so already.

The NCAA will not allow its star players to receive any sort of money or goods from anyone.  If they do, they should be prepared to suffer the repercussions, a la Reggie Bush.

So how does the NCAA expect its student athletes to support themselves and make a few extra bucks for their own pockets (all the while making millions for the suits who control the television and merchandising contracts)?  Win a National Championship and sell the ring on eBay, that’s how!

It appears as though one of the members of Alabama’s 2009 National Championship team has done just that.  The ring is currently listed at $6,995, and with five days of bidding remaining you still have the chance to make it yours.

So if that is “inexplicable”, then I can’t even begin to imagine how one would classify the sale of this 2010 Bowman Stephen Strasburg Red Autograph card, which is currently going for $113,500 USD on Ebay (12:20 pm ET).  The card is said to be the only one of its kind with a red border, and is also signed by the phenom himself.

Such factors make the card a unique one, but is a thin piece of cardboard really ever worth over $114,000?  What happens if Strasburg simply flames out, or suffers a devastating arm injury?  Does this become the worst investment in the history of American sports memorabilia?  At such a high price, I would argue that it already is!

Well, it appears one Ebay user is trying to take advantage of the absurd hype and cash in on one of his chrome rookie cards.  The trading card is being sold on Ebay for more than $10,000.  Originally, the Ebay user set the price for $20,000 or best offer, before relisting it as a reserve auction.

Listen, there’s no doubt Strasburg is great and there’s a good chance he’ll be a Cy Young one day, but I don’t know if he can walk on water or have a career as amazing as Nolan Ryan or other power pitchers before his time.  No matter what I think regarding Strasburg’s potential in the MLB, there is absolutely no reason why somebody should purchase one of his rookie cards at this point for greater than $10,000.  And after a simple search on Ebay, there’s not a single Nolan Ryan card going for even half of what this Strasburg card is going for

After watching LeBron James play in his first high school game, one man seemed to be sure that he had just watched basketball’s next big thing.  As a result, he began putting together a scrap book to remember the phenom’s pre-NBA days.  The man wrote the following comment on his eBay page:

I learned of LeBron’s situation with his father. I though to myself, “If I was LeBron’s father I would make a scrapbook of his games so I could remember his game playing days.” Little did I know when I started this collection it would end up being what it is. [eBay]

That is how it began, and several years later the scrapbook is now being sold on eBay for $250,000, or best offer.  That is a hefty price to pay for a scrap book, but with some people willing to spend $25,000 on a Tiger Woods Gatorade bottle, it may not be that big of a stretch.

So what do the 8 books of 500 laminated pages consist of?

Scrapbook #1- 31 laminated pages with newspaper clippings, ticket stubs, internet articles, and one green season ticket stub with LeBron’s autograph (top right hand picture – he was a junior) – These are from his sophmore and junior seasons.  There is also an email I sent to the Akron Beacon Journal wanting to know why they weren’t covering LeBron any better than they were.

Seems like a 5-6 record and a 4.86 ERA isn’t enough to get Brewers fans to forget his miserable three innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers last year in game four of the NLDS.  Now they are willing to give him up with the starting bid set at one cent.  That’s quite the bargain when you consider Barry Zito is making roughly $18 million a year.

The Supan sale has since been taken off eBay which is sad for those who were looking to grab the righty for a great price.  Those who missed out on snatching Brett Favre’s F-150 or Tiger Woods‘ Gatorade bottle could have eased their pain with this great bargain.  Now they will just have to wait for the next eBay athlete to go on sale.

eBay seems to be a popular trend these days with famous athletes selling expensive posseions on the website.  I know if I were in their shoes I wouldnt want the whole world to know what and potentially why I was selling something on eBay.  Unless of course it was for charity reasons.

The ad on the popular online auction site discusses the housing downturn and the home’s link to one of the NFL’s top players. It also reveals that since Muhammad first started trying to sell the house, he’s knocked $800,000 off the asking price. [CharlotteObserver]

A steal of a deal, especially in these rough economic times Muhsin and Christa Muhammad’s email in box must be flooded with requests to purchase their house.  I actually just emailed them about 10 times because I want a tour of the mansion, I wonder if they will accept?

So if you were interested in purchasing a piece of Brett Favre memorabilia and helping his family cope through this tough economy then your a little to late.

Well you just missed out on a great opportunity.  His 2007 Ford F-150 sold yesterday afternoon for $35,300 on eBay Motors.  What makes us believe that this is Brett Favre’s truck?  Well it must be.  After all the vehicle description says so.

“This truck is owned by Brett Favre. He will sign the dashboard upon the request of the buyer.”

Not to mention the fact that the stock # is FAVRE.

So should we really believe that this is his truck?  I doubt it.  If it was, why is he selling it on eBay and the proceeds not going to a charity?.  And if it is?  Then i guess we should expect the return of Brett Favre to the NFL next year.

I wonder if pledge will get out the signature?

Jeffrey Rosenberg, president of sports collectibles organization Tristar Productions, said he considers the purchase a bargain, as the card bearing the image of professional baseball’s first team is likely worth six figures, the Houston Chronicle reported Wednesday.

“This is like an ultimate treasure,” Rosenberg said. “Anybody who is a collector of baseball cards, of history, would want this. It would fit in any museum, from the Smithsonian to the Baseball Hall of Fame.”

We bet that any sports card collector would want this rare baseball card, but the unfortunate thing is that not every sports card collector can afford to pay 75 grand for such a thing. Previously the card was listed on eBay for $9.99, after the owner discovered it in a box acquired during a long-ago estate sale.  But the rare baseball card was taken off the auction site after the true value of the card was determined.

“I feel great. I’m happy for the card. I’m happy for my husband and I. I’m happy for the whole world,” Gallego said during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

$75,285 is alot of money for someone to dish out on a baseball card.  I guess the economy is not affecting them one bit.
