So what’s next for Cundiff following his heartbreaking missed field-goal? I guessing he decides to have a sex change, becomes a lieutenant for the Miami police force, and eventually has his plan to prevent the Dolphins from winning the Super Bowl foiled by Dan Marino and Ace Ventura.

Perhaps, but most blocks result in the ball batting off a defensive player’s hands and rolling around on the field before someone on either team picks it up. An interception on a field goal, however, constitutes the blocker actually catching the ball during the blocking process, which is exactly what Hayden Knudson of Hayfield Secondary School did during a recent game against Washington-Lee.

This field-goal is good! Hopefully the same can be said about the health of the left upright.

Braylon Edwards’ departure was almost as inevitable as the chance of Shaun Rogers skipping town in the next offseason, a rookie signal caller will be in place after the 2010 draft, and he’ll be selected with the number 1 pick because in all honestly, the Browns are the worst team in the NFL right now.

But… with that being said, WE GOT SCREWED!

Sunday’s game against the red hot Cincinnati Bengals was a tighter affair than expected, and not only did it make it into overtime, all but 4 seconds of said overtime were utilised to (unjustly) find a winner. Shayne Graham put the ball between the posts… or did he? On closer review, and after a few choice words from Browns’ defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, I’m not convinced.

Yes it’s in my interest to not be convinced because a tie game would mean we’d be let off our 0-16 path by a technicality, but this deserves another look so decide for yourself:

We are not entirely sure if he had any prior coaching from Redskins kicker Shaun Suisham, but when he took to FedEx Field before Washington’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, all he needed was one boot to get it through the uprights.

It wouldn’t surprise us if Ovechkin was able to hit the field goal without any previous practice. Sometimes it seems as thought there is nothing Alexander the Great can’t do (besides drive safely).

Last night during the Bengals preseason game against the New England Patriots, Ochocinco was unable to score a touchdown, but that didn’t stop him from getting on the board. Late in the fourth quarter following a Chris Henry touchdown to make it 6-3 for the Bengals, Chad entered the game with the field goal team.

The Bengals’ regular kicker, Shane Graham, had been hampered by an injury, but the team had a backup plan. Word one the street, according to commentary, is that Ochocinco has a great kicking leg and they weren’t lying. After setting up his footing, the ball was snapped and the Cincinnati wide receiver sent the ball right through the uprights with ease.

He wasn’t done there either. For the ensuing kickoff, Ochocinco once again showed off his leg and booted the ball down inside the Pats ten yard line. Talk about giving this guy even more reasons to praise himself. This should give him something to Twitter about.

As you would expect, Ochocinco had something to say following the game, including the introduction of another name change?

“‘Esteban’ Ochocinco is back, the most interesting footballer in the world,” Ochocinco said. “Everyone has to remember, I’ve always said that soccer is my No. 1 sport. I think Ronaldinho would be proud of me right now.” [TSN.ca]

Esteban? Please tell me this is not for real.

The best part of it all was Ochocinco’s extra point would prove to be the difference in a 7-6 Bengals victory. Just think of the fantasy possibilities. Carson Palmer bombs a deep ball to Chad (or Esteban, if that’s what you prefer), which goes for a touchdown. After racking up all the points on the play from yardage and the touchdown, he comes out and adds another point to you total with the extra kick. Now that is fantasy production.

I guess if his newly revived relationship with Palmer goes sour, he can always join the kicking team.
