On Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s birthday, the boxing champion received a cake designed to look like a stack of money.  On LeBron James’ birthday, “The King” was presented with a giant cake topped off with a crown.  So does anyone want to guess what Michael Strahan’s cake looked like when he celebrated his 40th birthday on Sunday (his actual birthday was on Monday, November 21) with the “NFL on FOX” crew?

If you said “a gap-toothed mouth,” you are correct!

As Rodgers was providing Pam with his overview of the game, he was suddenly hit by the Eagles’ wideout before the two exchanged hugs.  And much like he did throughout the entire afternoon, Rodgers rebounded following the hit and picked up right where he left off, completing the interview for the national audience.

We aren’t sure if leaving the cameras on all night is part of the regular procedure for FOX prior to football games, but they did so in this case and we couldn’t have been more thankful as they were able to capture some rather remarkable footage of the Metrodome roof collapsing onto the playing field.  Luckily this happened prior to the game, and not during it.

During halftime of Sunday’s game at the Metrodome between the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings, those who stayed in their seats were treated to one of the best displays of power running all day. And surprisingly, it came from someone other than Adrian Peterson. Instead, it was the University of Minnesota’s Goldy Gopher who was using stiff arms on opposing tacklers, sending the kids tumbling to the ground one at a time as he made his way towards the end zone.

Did I say kids? I sure did!

The Vikings give these young boys the opportunity to show off some of their skills in front of the thousands of fans in attendance each weekend. However, there was one college mascot in particular who was doing the impressing this time around, and he was showing a complete disregard for the well being of any possible tackler in the process.

And if all that was not enough, for some reason FOX announcer Dick Stockton seems to believe the Goldy Gopher was dressed as a bear, which he says is “very hard to figure out.” What is even more difficult to understand is why Stockton has such a difficult time identifying a gopher when he sees one.

Burger King and Fox’s NFL pre-game show gave viewers an inside look at what goes on inside the always interesting Dallas Cowboys locker room (when they are not busy singing) in this weeks edition of “The King and Us.”  Needless to say, Jessica Simpson size, Tony Romo‘s knack for choking, and Wade Phillips‘ job security were all topics of discussion.

Cartoon versions of Marion Barber and Jason Witten kick things off by poking fun at Jessica’s weight issues, and Phillips joins in with some verbal jabs towards Romo and his big game blunders.  But the best part just might be when Jessica enters the scene hand-in-hand with Kyle Orton stating “I only lose weight for winners.”  So does that mean we should expect Simpson to grow exponentially as long as she is with Redskins backup quarterback Colt Brennan?

As for the Rex Ryan comparison to Octomom, you can only hope the Jets head coach is taking that one as a compliment.

After finishing last season with an 0-16 record, the Lions have made some improvements, drafting quarterback Matthew Stafford out of Georgia with the first overall pick and also aquiring the likes of Foote and  Julian Peterson at linebacker, and cornerbacks Anthony Henry and Phillip Buchanon.  While Stafford may be having all the fun in the world making his transition into the NFL, the others will likely undergo a difficult coping process.

Such a statement is especially true for Foote, as he must endure a season with the NFL’s worst team after several with one of the best.  It can be a difficult situation to sum up, but FOX’s Chris Myers seemed to have hit the nail on the head when he stated the following on air during the Lions’ Sunday afternoon game against the New Orleans Saints:

Foote going from two Super Bowls in Pittsburgh to a winless Detroit team.  That’s like going from dating Beyonce to Whoopi Goldberg.

Truer words have never been spoken Chris, but I would have to argue the prospects of going from Beyonce to Whoopi are much worse than the move from Pittsburgh to Detroit.  After all, there is always the possibility of improvement on the part of the Lions.  I don’t believe Whoopi’s looks are growing any more forgiving as she gets older.

He’s been hanging out with teen-pop sensations, the Jonas Brothers!

No, this isn’t an episode from South Park, but the whole situation is pretty eerie and confusing why The Jonas Brothers would even allow Mike Tyson around them. Let alone the fact that Joe Jonas would allow the ex-con/heavyweight champ to handle scissors near him is beyond me.

We all know how much Iron Mike likes removing (biting) parts from peoples bodies, but this one is a simple haircut. Maybe a career Iron Mike’s been looking to since the fall of his boxing career, and since he got that tremendously odd tattoo on his face.  Who knows he could always just sit the people down in the chair at his barber shop and bite their ears off. Makes it a bit easier for Tyson since he has a problem with money and pussy.

The gag is actually a clip from the Teen Choice Awards, yet another award show no one over the age of  13 watches. Good call FOX on picking solid role models for these kids, Mike Tyson is quite the hero.

The always-right-in-his-own-mind host of the O’Reilly Factor spoke about the video yesterday on his show, and for once I must admit that I somewhat agree with him.  Peeping is wrong, it is even worse when those taking part in it put the footage on the internet for everyone to see, and it should be a felony.  What I am still wondering though is why the hell he and the people at Fox aired the clip at all last night.

There seemed to be no need to air such footage, but Fox did so anyways.  So now we will wait and see if ESPN takes any sort of action towards Rupert Murdoch and his people as a result.  Deadspin reported yesterday that ESPN has cut ties with The New York Post in light of their “decision to run graphic photos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews.”   Will Fox receive a similar fate?

Bill throw in some of that “I’m not gonna show anymore video of it because this is ultra-disturbing and I think it’s a very serious crime” banter in there in an attempt to help his cause, but we aren’t buying it.  In fact, their whole discussion on the issue seemed rather irrelevant,as they simply stated the obvious.

“It is wrong!”  Ya, we know.

“It’s a very serious crime!”  Ya, we know.

“Women everywhere are going to be so paranoid and it’s 2009.  Unfotunately, there are cameras everywhere and I guess you just have to pretty much keep your clothes on or stay in shape!”  Yes…I mean, WHAT?  Interesting analysis from Courtney Friel.  Haven’t heard that one yet.

During “overtime” of the debut of Joe Buck Live last night, Joe Buck was noticeably flustered by the Howard Stern Show comedian Lange, who threw some interesting comments out there including a discussion on male threesomes and the likely failure of Joe’s show.  Luckily this segment was only seen on HBO.com.  It had all the swearing you would expect form a Petr Sykora Stanley Cup lift, a segment of Coaches Corner, or an interview with Ervin Santana.  Perhaps they may want to consider getting Alex Rios on the show.  He seems to be comfortable using such language.

So how long will the Joe Buck show last?  Artie predicts no more than four shows, but as long as they keep Joe from preventing all the fun that guys like Artie bring to it, this show may actually be worth a watch.  As for HBO, they described Lange’s performance as “boardered on bad taste,” and having a “mean-spirited tone.”  Mean spirited would be having Joe Buck run his own show.  What better way to deprive viewers of quality television.  Have a look for yourself.

Reports indicate that the former New York Giant Defensive End suspected his girlfriend Nicole Murphy (ex-wife of comedian Eddie Murphy) of cheating so he planted a tracking device in her car.  If that wasn’t enough, he also was infuriated when she found out about it.  The device provided Michael with her location, but there was a valid reason for him to suspect something had been going on.

Nicole Murphy reportedly had a fling with Universal Records A&R executive Demetrius Spencer.  They would exchange emails professing their love for one another and take exotic getaways together.  Spencer and Murphy have since called it quits after the latest device was found in the car.  Sources indicate that it was found by mechanics at a luxury dealership where Nicole had taken her Range Rover.  When Strahan found out, he made his way to the dealership and snapped.  The post described the situation as follows:

“Murphy and Spencer went to have lunch while the tracer – which one source said provided up-to-the-minute location status – was removed.  Seconds later, Strahan barged into the garage, “yelling and screaming,” a source said.  Spotting Murphy’s car with the tracking device exposed, Strahan walked over, ripped it off the dashboard and stormed out of the shop.”

Strahan and Murphy have decided to stay together due in large part to the fact that her 5 kids have developed a strong relationship with the now NFL commentator. As for Strahan’s antics?  Well this isn’t the first time he has done this.  During his messy divorce trial in 2006 with ex-wife Jean, he was accused of using spy-ware to tap the phone, and he also video recorded her sister getting undressed.

Wow Mr. Strahan.  I’m impressed.  You would think that only someone coming from the New England Patriots would be as familiar and effective with spy-ware technology.  Guess we were wrong.
