But in an effort to cut the deficit to one goal, BU pulled their goalie with about 3 minutes and 30 seconds remaining in the game. The BU Terriers had countless opportunities to score but the Redhawks goaltender stood on his head. With a minute remaining in the game the Terriers finally scored to make the game 3-2 and with 17 second left on the clock, one of the most amazing comebacks had been accomplished as BU tied the game with a one-timer from the circle.

The storied comeback gets better, halfway through the first overtime BU defenseman Kevin Roeder wired a clapper from the left point that was deflected and found it’s way past the Redhawks goaltender.

“If you were a Boston hockey fan watching the game, it was maybe the greatest moment of your life, but if you’re a Miami fan … I hear science is doing wonderful things with drugs these days. In the meantime, if you’re looking for one person to heap all your scorn and ridicule on … make it this guy.”

Miami (Ohio) Redhawks fans can look on the bright side, they may have lost the game, but they attended one of the greatest games in NCAA Hockey Championship history.
