They sure could have used one more great save from Visentin, like the one he pulled out of his bag of tricks during yesterday’s bronze medal game against Finland.

With Canada leading 3-0 early in the third period, the 2010 first round draft pick of the Phoenix Coyotes helped his team maintain their three-goal cushion with a backhand, no-look glove save.

The save may not have earned him a gold medal, but it has earned Visentin a spot on the highlight reel.  Check it out.

It was only the fourth goal ever scored by a keeper in Premier League history, however, replays show that much of the credit should go to the wind, which helped the ball take a crazy bounce and completely fool Bogdan in the process.  Oddly enough, while his entire team celebrated, Howard showed little emotion following his goal.  According to him, it was a sign of respect for his opposing keeper:

“It’s not a nice place to be,” Howard said. “I’ve been there before — a long, long time ago — and that was why I didn’t celebrate.”  [TSN.ca]

Unfortunately for Howard, he and his teammates weren’t able to enjoy the goal to its fullest extent, as Bolton answered with two goals of their own to give them the 2-1 victory.  But that shouldn’t prevent you from enjoying Howard’s 100-yard goal.

Some of these goals conceded by Arna Kristinsdóttir during Iceland’s 4-0 loss to Spain in the semi-finals of the Under-17 European Women’s Championships are so bad that they still have me wondering how she has managed to hold onto her starting job.

Being a goalie can be quite a lonely feeling when you suck this bad, which make System of a Down’s “Lonely Day” the perfect soundtrack for this lowlight reel.

Every man knows what M.I.L.F. stands for.  I believe that goes without saying.

Now, following the U.S.A.’s extraordinary come-from-behind victory against Brazil in the quarter-finals of the 2011 Women’s World Cup, a new term has been coined:  G.I.L.F., as in “Goalie I’d Like to F*ck.”  That was the type of feeling that U.S. keeper Hope Solo ignited in many American males after making a key save during the penalty shootout on Sunday.

As for myself, I’ve always thought of Hope as one of the hottest GILFs in women’s soccer.

That is what we are led to believe after watching England’s U-17 goalkeeper Jordan Pickford allow a shot from center by Canadian keeper Quillan Roberts to bounce over his head and into the net during a group stage match at the U-17 World Cup in Mexico.  The goal by Roberts came in the 87th minute and helped Canada earn their first point of the tournament, via their improbable 2-2 draw against England.

England can still qualify for the next round with a win or a draw, while Canada stays alive with the tie.  However, the Canadians will need to beat Rwanda by a convincing margin in their final game and hope that Uruguay helps them out by defeating England in the other final Group C match.

It certainly wont be easy for Canada, but I guess if your goalie can score from beyond midfield in the final minutes to tie a game, then just about anything is possible.

And in the blue corner, we have Zulte-Waregem goalkeeper Sammy Bossut, who somehow forgot how to throw a ball for a split second.  The end result would be an costly mistake that would set up Lokeren’s Benjamin De Ceulaer with an empty-net game-winning goal.

So who ya got?

While Bossut’s error may have been a costly one, I’d have to give this decision to Turina, thanks in large part to the addition of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

I guess you can say Turina did the opposite on this play.

That was what Lassi Hurskainen was probably thinking when he decided to grab a camera, a soccer ball and a pair of cleats, and put together a rather impressive trick-shot video of his own.  The keeper for UNC-Ashville can pretty much hit any target he pleases, leaving us wondering why he is wasting away his valuable shooting skills in goal?

On second thought, this 80-yard goal off a free kick while playing for FC Riverball last summer has us believing that maybe his talents aren’t going to waster after all.

Goalies are banned from partaking in any sort of celebration.  No matter what the occasion, whether they have just made a save on a penalty shot, scored a goal, or won a championship, they are prohibited from engaging in any type of celebratory act.

Although this may seem like a rather harsh rule, it really isn’t.  When they aren’t resulting in the unlikeliest of goals, these celebrations often tend to result in unnecessary injuries, as was the case after Sport Recife goalkeeper Saulo headed home a game-winning goal in extra time during Monday’s match against Vitoria.

I hope he enjoyed his brief moment in the sun because he will be spending the next six months on the sideline with a torn ACL.

It was one of the greatest goaltending blunders he have ever witnessed, but it was not the last we would see of Khalid Askri.

He was once again the victim of another embarrassing gaff, but this time instead of standing around looking for answers, he decided to do what he thought would be the most logical thing to do at the time…he pull himself from the game.

However, the manner in which he makes his exit is nothing short of hysterical.

Get it? This woman could be the worst person imaginable and still get away with telling potential suitors that she’s a ‘keeper’ without lying. Oh, what fun with a pun! Even if she was a closet serial killer, and told somebody she was a ‘keeper,’ my guess is the guy would run like hell when he realizes her hands are the size of the  7-Eleven Incredible Hulk hands. But I guess that’s what makes her such a great ‘keeper,’ right? Now I’ve just confused myself.
