But as exciting as the actual game was, it simply couldn’t live up to the action that the CFL delivered on Friday during their Legends Luncheon, which featured a fight between two 73-year-old former players; Angelo Mosca and Joe Kapp.

While playing against one another during the 1963 Grey Cup, Mosca’s Tiger-Cats came away with a victory over Kapp’s BC Lions, however, many believed Hamilton’s win was largely the result of a cheap hit by Mosca that knocked Lions running back Willie Fleming out of the game.  A replay of the hit was shown during the luncheon.  That was followed by Kapp offering Mosca a flower in an effort to bury the hatchet, but rather then ending their feud, it only seemed to revive it as the two began swinging their fists and canes before eventually being broken apart.

Mosca and the Tiger-Cats may have gotten the better of Kapp and the Lions back in ’63, but it was Kapp who appeared to come away on top of this battle.  It looks like this was an all-around winning weekend for the BC Lions players, both old and new.

Here is a look at the brawl that broke out during the CFL Legends Luncheon.

Toronto was led by quarterback Doug Flutie, who was the reigning regular season and Grey Cup MVP.  Flutie went on to win both awards once again, bringing his career totals to three Grey Cup MVP’s along with a record six MVP’s in the regular season.  The Argonauts entered the game as heavy favorites, but things did not start out well as Saskatchewan jumped out to an early lead.  However, the Argos quickly answered as they took the lead and never looked back.

Along with winning the game’s Most Valuable Player, Doug Flutie was awarded a brand new Dodge Dakota.  Flutie would give the truck to teammate Paul Masotti, stating “I have one from last year,” referring to the one he won as the Most Valuable Player of the 1996 Grey Cup.

The Grey Cup, a.k.a. the Super Bowl of the North, took place over the weekend, and no one appeared to be more excited about the Randy Bachman and Fred Turner halftime show than the man responsible for sweeping the snow in the stands during the pre-game rehearsals at Commonwealth Stadium.

This guy appeared to be having the time of his life with that broomstick guitar in his hands…That is, until he took that nasty spill.  Next time he should consider “Taking Care of Business” before enjoying the festivities.

Sweeping snow in the stands?  A Bachman and Turner halftime show?  Broomstick guitars?  Only in Canada…

Last night in Calgary, the Canadian Football League season, which has been filled with numerous big hits, great plays, and even some crazy celebrations, was capped off with one of the most entertaining Grey Cup matches in recent memory.

The Montreal Alouettes and the Saskatchewan Roughriders were the two best teams throughout the year, leading their respective conferences, and it was only fitting that they battle it out in a final championship game which would come right down to the wire.

The majority of fans in attendance at McMahon Stadium were dressed in green to support their Roughriders, and hoping to be “on the receiving end” of the trophy when it was all said and done.  It looked like that would be the case with their team up 27-10 going into the fourth quarter, but Anthony Calvillo and rest of the Montreal players would spoil the fun with a late comeback which was capped by a last second field goal to give the Alouettes the 28-27 victory.

Unfortunately this woman will have to wait one more year before having anything stuck in her “Regina.”

Arceneaux came down hard on the back of his neck, seemingly decapitating his head from the rest of his body. He would thankfully be alright, but the Lions wouldn’t as they ended up losing this crucial CFL semi-finals match-up 56-18 to the Montreal Alouettes.

With the win, the Als will travel to Calgary next Sunday to take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders in this year’s Grey Cup final. As for the Lions, they will go home with the bitter taste of defeat in their mouth, but at least in Arceneaux’s case, that mouth, and the rest of his head, is still attached to his body.
