Kaleta didn’t exactly get the retribution he was seeking. Instead, what he got was a few punches to the face and a spot on our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

Well if that figure of speech holds true, I guess we can assume that a Leafs Stanley Cup parade and a Scott Gomez goal celebration are right around the corner after witnessing Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik send Bruins’ forward Daniel Paille soaring through the air on Saturday night.

Check it out.

Playing against the Boston Bruins, Sittler scored an amazing six goals and added four assists en route to the 11-4 victory. Bruins’ rookie goalie Dave Reece would be on the wrong end of those 11 goals against. Sittler’s record still stands to this day, as a total of eight points in a single game has been reached on 12 more occasions, with Mario Lemieux being the last to do so on April 25, 1989.

With teams rarely scoring 10 goals in the current NHL, it is fair to say that Sittler’s record isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Here is Don Cherry explaining what happened during Sittler’s record-breaking night.

Hockey player.

With the name “Plush” printed on the back of his jersey, Morgan took to the ice to show off his skills at a San Jose Sharks practice. Playing hockey is nothing new to Nyjer, who spent much of his childhood taking part in the sport. He would even go on to play seven games for the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, recording two goals and 20 penalty minutes during his time with the team.

By the looks of it, his time in the MLB hasn’t caused him to completely lose his scoring touch on the ice, as he was able to bury a few of his penalty shot attempts. And if his brawl with the Marlins two seasons ago is any indication, it appears as though he hasn’t lost his aggressive nature either, but he was able to refrain from dropping the gloves and going a round with Joe Thornton on this occasion.

It all started with a bone-crushing hit behind the Condors net and ended with a spirited scrap between the goalies of the two teams. As for all of the action that takes place between these two events, including several fights and a 2-on-1 beatdown, they were awfully entertaining as well.

This may come to a shock to some sports fans, but the 2012 NHL All-Star Game is this weekend. No, really. And I’ll give you twenty bucks if you can tell me where the game is being held without hitting up Google. (Just kidding. I will not be giving anyone twenty bucks.)

I mean no disrespect to the NHL or hockey in general. In fact, hockey is one of my favorite sports. I watch at least a couple of games a week, and come playoff time I hardly ever leave the couch. But the NHL All-Star Game is so freakin lame, you just can’t get excited about it. If a serious fan like me had no idea the game would be on January 29 until about January 22, how earth does the NHL think they’re going to attract any casual fans?

And the thing is, the NHL doesn’t need this silly nonsense. Take it away, and I guarantee no one would miss it. So I think it’s time they put an end to the whole thing and let us all move on with our lives.

But just in case you’re not sold yet on the idea of scrapping the NHL All-Star Game, here are 9 reasons why the league needs to pull the plug.

However, the scoreboard wasn’t the only place that the Habs were doing their damage last night. They were also doing quite a bit of damage to the left hand of this young fan, who couldn’t resist the temptation to unleash a season’s worth of built up frustration on the plexiglass…

And he was paying for it shortly after.

Former NHLer Richard Zednik was running a hockey school at the newly constructed rink in Slovakia when parents of the children on the ice began to notice that the roof was caving in. Everyone was quickly escorted off the ice, just in time to grab their cameras and watch the roof come crashing down due to the unbearable amount of snow that had accumulated on top of it.

Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident and it was all captured on camera. Check it out.
