The Texas Rangers simply couldn’t get a grip on things last night, both figuratively and literally. Not only were they unable to cash in on several opportunities to score runs and take a stranglehold on their ALCS series against the Detroit Tigers, but Rangers’ slugger Josh Hamilton was unable to take a stranglehold of his own bat in the top of the sixth inning, resulting in his bat flying into the first row above the Rangers’ dugout.

Two interesting things that came from Hamilton’s accidental bat-toss into the crowd that we should point out:

1. Hamilton is a great guy and he clearly didn’t intend to hurt anyone, but doesn’t is seem like he is becoming quite the hazard in Major League ballparks this season?

2. You have to love the acting job by the dude in the white shirt in the front row. The replay beginning at the 29 second mark shows that the bat clearly missed him, hitting the lady behind him before landing on his shoulder. But as any ballpark veteran knows, the souvenir bat always goes to the person who was injured most by it, and this pathetic excuse for a man did a great job selling himself as the greatest sufferer in this case.

Here is a look at the incident.

Defensive players are generally not known for their celebrations. Here is another example of why that is the case.

I can understand celebrating after an interception, fumble recovery, or maybe even a sack, but what is the point of doing a little dance following a tackle? You are a defensive player in the National Football League. Making tackles is what you get paid to do. The guy lining up across from you catches the ball on the line of scrimmage. It is your job to make the tackle before he can turn it into a big gain.

So when you do successfully stop your opponent in his tracks, you can either act like you have been there before, or make yourself look like an ass, which is precisely what Vontae Davis chose to do.

Does it get any worse than an injury during a celebration?

The sad truth is that we are all getting older, including skateboarding legends like the one and only Tony Hawk. Hawk was skating during a Quiksilver demo on Saturday and did not nail the landing. He instead nailed his pelvis.

Hawk tweeted about the fall shortly after the event. “Did a tailbone 5 & my foot was a little off, sent me into b/s revert (chicken-neck) to flat. Hit my back & head HARD. Waiting for CT results.”

As a follow-up tweet from Hawk revealed, those results came back and with a diagnosis of his injury as a ‘pelvic vertical shear injury’. I’ve never heard of such a thing, but I bet it hurts. A lot. Also hurting a lot? Getting power bombed in an MMA fight. Or hit with a line drive, foul ball from your own teammate.

Over the years Hawk has suffered much worse. He’ll be fine and back out thrilling crowds in no time.

This home made video has nothing to do with either of those things. This genius dirt bike superstar decided to build a little ramp to jump his bike off, and the proceeds to fail as bad as anyone I’ve ever seen. You would think all that work putting a ramp together would give him time to think how horribly wrong taking a bike airborne can be.

With his trusty dog there as motivation, the rider promptly does a solid face plant right into the hill. Maybe the X-games should really look into preventing teens to stop trying stuff they see on TV. Although it does make for a good laugh wen they do fail horribly.

Gotta love the slow motion replay! You can bet this kid wont be riding his bike anytime soon.
