Perhaps the best highlight of the night didn’t even take place during one of the evening’s three main cards.  Instead, it took place following the second-last bout of the night, as Chael Sonnen celebrated his controversial decision over Michael Bisping by sharing his always entertaining thoughts and words with Joe Rogan and the rest of those in attendance at the United Center in Chicago.

So what did we learn from KG’s 10 second rant to open up his post-game interview with Craig Sager?  Simple.  He has been in a bar fight before.  Charles Barkley has been in a bar fight before.  And Craig Sager hasn’t been in a bar fight before.

Well you can put your tissue boxes away, because it appears as though Bryzgalov doesn’t need HBO in order to provide us with consistent hilarity.  All he needs are a few microphones in his face following a bad game…and voila!

We were treated to just that following the Flyers’ 6-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators yesterday afternoon, and the result was a confused Bryzgalov who may still be trying to recall exactly what he was talking about.

Take a look.

“First we win Canada.  Second we win Canada. Third we win in 80,000 peoples.  Red jerseys.  Everybody put red and white jerseys.  But we win.  We score more goals.”

That was the post-game analysis that reporters got from Russian forward Nail Yakupov following Russia’s semi-final victory over Canada at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton, Alberta on Tuesday.  Yakupov would go on to provide a few more interesting sound bytes, like “Russia win, Russia better than Canada, so see you next time.”

Unfortunately for him and the rest of his Russian teammates, they wouldn’t be singing the same tune following their gold medal loss to Sweden last night.

With Iginla fielding questions at his locker following a solid performance on the ice, he was confronted with the following question:

“Setting up the play.”

Did you notice how I didn’t even put a question mark following that statement?  That’s because it clearly isn’t a question!  I know that and Jarome does too.  But even after giving the reporter a few opportunities to correct herself, she was unable to do so, causing Iginla to break out the following confession:

“Ya, no.  Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean.”

I’m going to have to agree with Jarome on this one.  I’m not sure what she means either.  And if fielding such a question wasn’t already tough enough, Iginla was somehow able to do so without breaking out into hysterical laughter and/or punching someone.

Still wondering what type of question would evoke such an answer?  Here is what he was asked by Melissa Rohlin of the LA Times:

“Metta, I’ve been asking a bunch of players whether they call you Metta World Piece, or Ron Artest now.  And all the rookies say Metta, and all the veterans say Ron.  What’s up with that?  Is it some type of hazing?”

Needless to say, Metta did a terrible job answering the question, but as usual, he did a great job keeping things interesting during this interview.

Sonnen, who is expected to face UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva for the title next year, stated in October that he would put his UFC career on the line if Silva agreed to do the same with his career as a middleweight fighter.  However, Sonnen stated that the offer had “expired” in an interview one week later.

When asked by Landsberg why he “backed down” from the original offer, Sonnen immediately took aim at the host:

“You might want to take the base out of your tone, I’m not sure you know who you’re talking to here, but I’ve never backed down from anything, so check your facts,” Sonnen said.

Landsberg attempted to clarify his question, but it didn’t seem to help:

“What are you talking about?,” asked Sonnen. “What is this, your first day on the job? You’re mixing five different stories here. This is like doing amateur hour or something. What show am I on here? Is this for public radio?”

After going back and forth, Sonnen fired some shots at Landsberg’s home country of Canada, saying “in (America), that created business, offers expire…(Canadians) probably don’t do that in socialism, but in America, in a capitalistic society, that’s how things work.”

Sonnen also took the opportunity to poke fun at Canadian fighter and UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre, calling him “Grease St-Pierre,” before eventually taking off his microphone and walking out on the interview in disgust.

Sure, Landsberg can be awfully annoying at times, but Sonnen’s crankiness towards Canada has me thinking that someone probably spit in his poutine prior to this interview.  Here it is.

I am not quite sure how the Packers fit into homecoming weekend at the University of Southern California.  I do not believe Ryan Allsop, Danny Luber or Will Weggel could provide us with an accurate answer to that question either, but they somehow found a way to make it work, as they had plenty of fun with the Trojan fans.

Lesson of the day: The next time you have an itch in the back of your throat, don’t ask a perverted pedophile to scratch it.

The first two revelations mentioned above are quite evident after hearing Sandusky tell Costas that he is “innocent of those chargers,” referring to the 40 counts of sex crimes against young boys he faces, yet admitting that he had “horsed around with kids,” “showered after workouts,” “hugged them,” and “touched them.”  When asked whether he was sexually attracted to young boys, Sanducky answered that question exactly how you would expect a guilty man living in denial to answer it:

“Am I sexually attracted to underage boys? Sexually attracted? You know, I enjoy young people. I, I love to be around them. I, I, I… But no, I’m not sexually attracted to young boys.”

Nothing says guilty quite like a man who requires such a long, nerve-wracking explanation to tell someone they are not sexually attracted to young boys.

As for the third revelation – that Sandusky has the worst lawyers in America – how else would you explain his attorney allowing him to partake in this interview?
