James Harden played two seasons of college basketball at Arizona State before entering the 2009 NBA Draft. He was selected as the third overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. He gained the record for the fourth-highest 3-point percentage in NBA history for a player under the age of 21 (.375), and in 2012, he helped lead the team to the NBA Finals, where they ultimately lost to the Miami Heat. That same year Harden helped the United States Men’s Basketball Team bring home the Gold Medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Thunder refused to offer him a max contract and traded him to the Houston Rockets for the 2012–2013 season. He would go on to lead the league in scoring multiple times over the next seven and a half seasons, and in 2020 was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. After a few seasons, Harden was once again traded from the Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022. He re-signed with the 76ers in July of 2022 with a two-year $68.6 million deal.
Harden has an endorsement deal with Adidas over the next 13 years that is worth $200 million.
