Sure, Mendes couldn’t even last a round with the champ, but at least he was able to stay on his feet for longer than this dude!

The win was Aldo’s 14th straight, and it was also his fifth straight successful title defense (the first two came while the belt belonged to the WEC, while the last three came in UFC bouts). However, with this bout taking place in his home country of Brazil, it appeared to be that much more special, and it showed seconds after the referee called an end to the fight, as Aldo sprinted outside the cage and jumped into a crowd of rowdy Brazilian fans. After being engulfed in the madness, it appeared as though Aldo would never make it back to the ring to receive his belt, but security was eventually able to round up the champ and usher him back to the center of the octagon.

Here is a look at all of the action.

The flying knees of WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo can be devastating, and it appears as though his leg kicks are just as dangerous. This image of Urijah Faber’s leg is evidence of that fact. And just in case you were wondering, Faber has not been injecting himself with the same stuff as this guy. It’s all natural!

Aldo defended his WEC featherweight championship belt Saturday night in Sacramento and won a unanimous decision over Faber after delivering a beating over the course of the five-round fight. Although he did land several punches to the head of Faber in the fourth round, most of the damage inflicted by Aldo was to the left leg of Faber. Things eventually became bad enough that at the conclusion of the third round, Faber’s trainer Master Thong had to help carry his fighter back to his respective corner.

Faber took this picture of his leg yesterday (Thursday). The fight took place five days earlier. I’m no doctor, but that leg looks pretty f*%ked up.

Total Pro Sports – There may be no worse way to lose an MMA fight than by beating yourself. There are not many ways a fighter can do that, but one way is by breaking your own leg. That was exactly what happened to this dude, bringing back memories of Oupa Ngulube‘s leg break during a soccer match.

What at first seems like a harmless leg kick turned into what is likely the most excruciating injury this fighter has ever sustained during his career. It is so bad that even his opponent couldn’t stand to look. You know the usual celebration that ensues following a victory? Well there was none of that here. Instead, the winner looked away in disgust and called for medics to get out there and help his fallen opponent.

We are used to bringing you some of MMA’s highlight reel ending, like Dan Henderson‘s KO of Michael Bisping, Jose Aldo‘s flying knee, or Yahir Reyes‘ spinning backfist, but the unfortunate part of the sport is that not all fights end in such glory (that is glory for the winner, but a painful headache for the loser).

In the end, some fighters just can’t get a break, and others seem to get too many. We’ll chalk this one up under the latter.

Total Pro Sports – Bellator has become well known for its outstanding knockouts on the male MMA side, and this weekend Stefanie Guimareas showed that the ladies can do some damage too. During Bellator XII, that damage landed on the chin of her opponent, Yvonne Reis.

Ranking right up there with the devastating knee KOs of Nick Pace and Jose Aldo, Guimareas grabbed Reis in a Muay Thai clinch and drove her leg up with authority. Reis was out immediately, and who can blame her. The knee seemed hard enough that even her family could likely tell us how if felt.

So what do we learn here? Well after seeing the damage that Cris “Cyborg” Santos inflicted on MMA Worldwide reporter Aaron Tru, and now this, maybe it’s a good thing that boys aren’t supposed to fight girls. I don’t think that knee gets any less painful if you are a male receiving it. Just a thought.

In the June 8th edition, Dana attends the World Extreme Cagefighting 41 event to watch former UFC fighter Jens Pulver. Hopefully he stayed around to catch Jose Aldo’s vicious knee. At one point in the night, Dana was off signing autographs (take that Alex Rios). As he was taking pictures with fans, one female was working her hardest to get his attention. Bending over the railing in her rather low-cut shirt, she gave him several shots in the arm while yelling his name. When she finally did get him to come over, she tried to get another picture, at least it sounds like that was sprinkled somewhere in between all the expletives.

Dana took it all in humor and it even seemed as though he and the female were familiar with each other. He respects his fans and recognizes that although sometimes drunk (and possibly obnoxious), they are the driving force behind the UFC. And what’s not to like about a drunk aggressive female fan. They are the one’s who will flash players at a hockey game!

Here is the blog. There are some other great scenes, like Dana and some others making fun of a member of his entourage, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson even makes an appearance. The encounter with the fan takes place at about the 30 second mark.

Total Pro Sports – The other night marked round 2 of the battle between world class featherweights Urijah Faber and Mike Brown at the World Extreme Cagefighting 41. It was a great bout between two top athletes in the sport, but once again it was Mike Brown coming out on top, this time by unanimous decision.

Hyped as such, it was clearly the fight of the night with both combatants giving everything they had, and unfortunately for Faber that wasn’t enough as he had to make due with a broken hand he sustained early on in the fight. Nonetheless, the former champion did not quit and made things interesting at several points, attempting to land elbows rather than punches and almost executing a submission attempt at one point. In the end it was Brown who would have his hand raised, leaving us to ponder who his next challenger will be. If the fights were any indication, Mike Brown may not have to look far for his next opponent. Although he and Faber provided fans with the “fight of the night,” the most impressive outing came from fellow featherweight Jose Aldo. He ended his bout against Cub Swanson just 8 seconds in with a flying knee to the head, clearly earning “KO of the night” honors and setting the stage for discussions on the possibility of a Brown vs Aldo title match. Regarding such, Aldo stated the following:

“I’m ready. It’s something that WEC has to decide, but I’m ready. I want to fight a title shot, and trust me, when I get the title, I’m going to keep it.” [Fan House]

What better way to make an impression than to put away your opponent just second in with such efficiency. This KO is clearly right up there with,

Should we have the opportunity to see Brown vs Aldo, expect nothing less than an all out war.

For now, here is the flying knee of Jose Aldo.
