Unfortunately, that did not stop this dynamic 1-2-punch from giving it a go at R. Kelly’s, “I Believe I Can Fly.”  And just like they do in a game, it was Williams who got things rolling, and Stewart who came in to clean things up at the end.  It is the formula that never seems to fail on the field, but still couldn’t save them on the mic.

Perhaps these two could use a pep talk from fellow Panther Steve Smith in order to set them (and their singing) straight.

It was all part of his charity bowling event during the Wade World Weekend in Chicago.  After showing off his bowling skills, Wade took to the mic for some Boyz II Men, “End of the Road.”  Let’s just say that after bowling was finished, Wade no longer had any skills to display for those in attendance.

We can’t blame the guy for trying, but the Miami Heat superstar just doesn’t share the same capabilities as fellow NBAer Ron Artest when it comes to singing.  The crowd seemed to enjoy it, but next time he may want to take a cue from his former teammate Shaq and stick to the lip singing.

A video was posted on Twitter which features Artest singing to the tune of Celine Dion‘s “My Heart Will Go On” at what appears to be a karaoke night at a friend’s house.  Needless to say, everyone there got quite the laugh out of his performance.  Even when it seemed as though he was going to quit, Artest carried on and stuck with it to the end, and he also found the opportunity to mix it up a bit at times.

He may not put the same heart and soul into his work like Shaq has shown in some of his performances, but we will applaud Artest for sticking this one out.  Maybe some exposure will earn him the opportunity to sing the national anthem at the Staples Center in the upcoming season.

So what did Boggs have to say when asked if these juiced up freaks belong in the Hall of Fame with him?

“You’re cheating the game, you’re cheating yourself, you’re cheating your family, you’re cheating your friends, you’re cheating your fans, and you’re cheating Americana and apple pie, baby. Because if you can’t do it at 60 feet, 6 inches, you shouldn’t be playing the game.”

Great job by Boggs here, although he could have gone of on his rant a beer or two earlier.  He likely should have refrained from the karaoke singing finale as well.  At least he seemingly received a better reception that Jeremy Roenick at the NHL Awards ceremony in Vegas last night.

We need more players from the past speaking out against the likes of Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa.  With the game already tainted, they should at least feel the need to preserve the shrine in Cooperstown.
