So what did Kobe have to say to Lamar?  Was he telling him he should have never left Los Angeles?  Was he asking Lamar how his wife, Khloe, is doing?  Or was he simply telling Lamar that he was going to help his team win the game, and there was nothing that he or any of his Mavericks teammates could do about it?

While this may still be a mystery, I am going to go on the assumption that Kobe was saying the latter to Odom, and seconds after he assisted on Derek Fisher’s game-winning three-pointer, Bryant gave a look back to Lamar as if to say, “I told you so.”

Truth be told, after spending the last seven years playing beside “the Black Mamba,” I’m sure Lamar was already well aware of the fact that Kobe would find a way to get it done in the dying seconds.  But he probably didn’t expect him to do so by passing up the shot.

Here is a look at what went down during the final seconds of last night’s game between the Lakers and the Mavs.

Driving down the right side, Odom drew a foul on the Jazz defender before putting up a one-handed prayer from the baseline that would fall through the rim with ease.  That bucket, plus the foul, put the Lakers up by an incredible 35 points.  It was no nail in the coffin.  In fact, it may have been one of the most meaningless baskets ever recorded, but the degree of difficulty gives us little choice but to provide you with another look at this incredible shot from Odom.

First it was the mask of Friday The 13th villain Jason Voorhees that was a best seller every October.  Then it was the ghostly mask featured on the movie Scream being used to terrorize children during Halloween.  This time around, don’t be surprised to see these Khloe Kardashian masks flying off shelves as October 31st approaches.

A Boston-based website by the name of Tauntr.com distributed 5000 of these masks to Celtics fans at the TD Garden prior to Game 3 Tuesday night, and judging by their poor shooting performance that led to a 91-84 victory for the Lakers, it may be safe to assume that the masks had a frightening effect on the Celtic shooters.  How else do you explain Ray Allen’s 0-for-13 disaster.  Oddly enough, he was only one miss away from tying an NBA Finals futility record, one game after posting a record for most three-pointers in a Finals game.

Paul Pierce can only hope that this series will be headed back to Cali.

Kobe Bryant was red hot from the field all night, scoring 40 points on some very efficient shooting.  He was 13-23 from the field and even hit 3-6 of his three-pointers.  In vintage Kobe fashion, he was able to get to the line 12 times, converting on 11 of the chances.  He also had 5 assists and 5 rebounds to cap off his excellent game.  He didn’t do it alone, however.  He had help from his teammates, mainly Pau Gasol (who scored 21 points on 10-13 shooting) and Lamar Odom (who had 19 points and 19 rebounds).

The Lakers look almost unbeatable in these playoffs.  their combination of length, speed, offense, defense, and rebounding is going to be very difficult to stop, let alone slow down.  The Suns looked helpless against it last night, allowing the Lakers to shoot 58% from the field as a team.  For now, Kobe earned “The Stat Line of the Night”, but at this rate, he may be earning championship ring number 5 soon enough.

Sources are indicating that the Laker wives have developed a rather strong hatred for Khloe due to her “loud,” “obnoxious,” “rude,” and “spoiled-child behaviour.”  She has been married to Lakers’ forward Lamar Odom for only two months, but that seems to have been more than enough time for her to make her mark.

Several incidents have caused the ladies to perceive Khloe in this way, including her demand for courtside seats for herself and her family, claiming they help the team attract publicity.  Then, after seeing Kobe Bryant‘s wife Vanessa, and their children, being escorted to the washroom by several security guards, she asked her mom in a rather loud voice, “Why don’t I have bodyguards? I’m more famous than her.”

Khloe seems to think she is the new face of the Lakers.  Perhaps she should receive a championship ring of her own.  Don’t be surprised if her next request is to have herself and her sisters inserted into the starting line up alongside Kobe and Pau Gasol.  Maybe she can even get Phil Jackson fired and replaced by her mother.

It may not be long before we are watching the Los Angeles Kardashians hoist the NBA championship trophy.

With the game tied and only 0.6 seconds left on the clock, Magic coach Stan Van Gundy devised a brilliant play that would leave Lee with an open backdoor ally-op layup.  Unfortunately he missed it by quite a substantial margin and his team would go on to lose in overtime 101-96.  The win now gives Wolverine and his teammates a commanding 2-0 series lead headed to Orlando for the next three games.

Someone may have to call Magneto to stop Kobe Bryant, Gasol and the rest of the Lakers.  Even the Candyman, Lamar Odom, was firing on all cylinders.  I guess Superman (Dwight Howard) is no match for the X-Men.  If he is, he’s running out of time to prove it.

A big change of pace for the big man.  Rather than take on his usual routine of ripping Kobe, or challanging people like Lance Armstrong on twitter, Shaq has decided to make peace with the Lakers superstar through the free social messaging utility.  Maybe for his next message he can comment on Lamar Odom’s candy addiction.

Many of you may be surprised, and some even disappointed at Shaq’s new approach to his former teammate.  I know I am.  I mean, come on now.  This isn’t time to make friends.  Its the NBA finals.  Everyone loves a bitter rivalry, even is they aren’t playing against each other. So for those of you who miss the older ways of Shaq, here is a little blast from the past.  Hey Kobe! Tell me how my ass tastes!

Odom was great in games 5 and 6 against the Denver Nuggets, recording a double-double in one, and 20 points, 8 rebounds in another.  With the NBA finals set to begin on Thursday, reporters had the opportunity during the layoff to ask Lamar about his candy habit.  His response was as surprising as it was humorous.  Contrary to what doctors have said about sweets, Odom claims that candy has been his breakfast prior to the final two games of the Western Conference finals, his best two games of the series.  So what’s Odom’s take on the doctor’s analysis?  “I guess he’s wrong, even though he is a doctor,” the big man told reporters huddled around him following a practice.

It doesn’t seem like Lamar is going to be giving up the sweet snacks for breakfast anytime soon, but what does coach Phil Jackson think of all this?  When asked whether he would encourage the habit, Phil quickly responded “no.”  He would go on to talk about the horrors he experiences as a parent on Halloween, and the other effects candy can have on individuals.  But Phil, if sugar can make your kids get out of control, just think of how uncontrollable Lamar can be for the Magic defense after a couple bags of Skittles.

So what kind of candy does Odom eat for gameday breakfasts?  In addition to Skittles, he also enjoys Starburst Jelly Beans, and Now and Laters.  I understand Phil Jackson is against this idea of pre-game candy, but don’t be surprised to see him with a bag or two in his pocket, just in case his star forward is having an off night.
