“Yankee pitcher CC Sabathia consoled himself after his first abysmal game by spending $15 million on a six-bedroom house in Alpine, NJ, reports The Post’s Jennifer Gould Keil. That’s spare change for the 250-pound, 6-foot-7 ace, who signed a $161 million contract with the team in the off-season.

The 12,000-square-foot mansion on 2 acres was on the market for less than two weeks. Sabathia, 28, paid all cash for his dream house, where he’ll live with wife, Amber, and their three kids. The ‘hood boasts neighbors like Sean Combs, Mary J. Blige, Stevie Wonder, Chris Rock and Britney Spears. Broker Dennis McCormack of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty had no comment. Single guy Rob Walker, who manages Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes, sold the family-style place because he fell in love with a nearby bachelor pad in the $15 million-$20 million range. When guys like CC are buying new $15 million homes, you can tell that the recession we are currently in is affecting them.

So if the property in 2005 cost $6.3 million (that’s probably worth half that now) how much will Derek Jeter’s shopping mall or so called house cost to build and furnish?

We would just like to congratulate the contracting company who got this job “J.O. DeLotto & Sons Inc“, in a time when most companies are claiming bankruptcy you guys go out and score a 31,000 square foot house contract.

“Tampa-based J.O. DeLotto & Sons Inc. began building the two-story house on what was two former home sites on Bahama Circle in August, according to Hillsborough public records.”

The best part is that you know your money on this project is Derek Jeter guaranteed.  At $21.6 million annually for total career earnings of $161.2 million through 2008 he can probably buy the whole island which also has it’s own private airport.  And yes, the house is mortgage free and paid cash!
