I wasn’t much of a believer a few weeks ago, but suddenly Tim Tebow has me thinking about attending Sunday mass on a regular basis.

Those of you who were lucky enough to catch the end of the Denver Broncos’ 13-10 overtime victory over the Chicago Bears yesterday afternoon were treated to one of the most unlikely comebacks of the 2011 NFL season. And if you are anything like me, you were probably thinking to yourself, “there is no way Tim Tebow comes back from this one,” after his Broncos took over on offense from their own 37-yard line trailing by 10 with only 4:34 remaining in the fourth quarter. After all, up to that point Tebow had completed only eight passes all game and he was facing a very stingy Bears defense.

Heck, even after Tebow drove the Broncos down the field and capped off an 8-for-8 drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Demaryius Thomas, it still appeared as though the Broncos had no hope. The Bears were about to get the ball back, and with the Broncos out of timeouts and only 2:08 left on the clock, even three straight running plays and a punt would give Denver well under a minute to drive down the field and kick a game-tying field-goal…

…Unless, of course, one of those runs should end up out-of-bounds, stopping the clock in the process.

You have to believe that Marion Barber was well aware of this, but it was almost as if there was some supernatural force that sent the Bears’ running back to the sideline during his second-down run. The play-by-play may credit Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams with pushing Barber out of bounds, but if you ask me, it actually appears as though this was the work of Tebow’s right-hand-man; the Lord Jesus Christ.

And after Jesus did his job, he left the rest to Tebow, Matt Prater and the Broncos defense, as Tebow set up his kicker for the game-tying 59-yard field-goal and in overtime the defense forced a turnover that set-up Prater’s game-winning 51-yard kick.

It was one of the most improbable victories that any of us have witnessed this year, but I guess when you have Tim Tebow and Jesus Christ on your side, there is always a miracle just waiting to happen.

In case you missed it, here is a look at Jesus pushing Marion Barber out of bounds (which has been appropriately mashed with the Buffalo Wild Wings commercial).

In recent years, the NFL has tried to come down hard on excessive touchdown celebrations. But really, aren’t these spectacles actually good for the league? Even if a guy is totally disrespecting his opponent, post-TD shenanigans generate publicity and keep people talking about football into the middle of the week.

Want proof? How’s this:

Did you see the epic touchdown celebration FAIL by Marion Barber this past Sunday? In his first game back from injury, the guy scored a TD against the Carolina Panthers and was so elated he decided to do a backflip. Then he landed right on his face. On semi-national television.

Embarrassing for Barber, yes, but ridiculously entertaining for everyone else. So why would the NFL want to take this away from us?

Thankfully, while the NFL may deprive us of future celebrations, until someone finally invents a time machine, they can’t erase our memories of epic celebration flops from the days of yore. So in that spirit, I present to you a list of 11 ridiculously awful touchdown celebrations. Because it’s fun mocking the failure of others, isn’t it?

9. DeSean Jackson: No Spatial Awareness

Who could forget this classic from September 15, 2008? Eagles rookie DeSean Jackson took a beautiful pass from Donavan McNabb for what would have been the first touchdown of his NFL career. Unfortunately, the guy was so eager to act like he was too cool to care about that first TD memento that he dropped the ball before he broke the plane of the end zone. Official ruling: 60 yard reception and a fumble. Nice start to your career, huh DeSean?

(PS, this won’t be Jackson’s final appearance on this list.)

8. DeSean Who?

They say that those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat it. Well, apparently Aaron Dobson of the Marshall University Thundering Heard wasn’t watching that Eagles-Cowboys Monday Night Football game on September 15, 2008, because on September 10, 2010, Dobson makes a 96 yard reception in the first quarter against West Virginia, then drops the ball right before crossing the plane. Luckily for Dobson, this one went unnoticed, and the touchdown stood.

7. Bill Gramatica Celebration Injury

Okay, technically this isn’t a “touchdown” celebration. But it’s football, points were scored, and I’m the one writing this list. So I say it’s close enough. Also, it’s one of the most famous botched celebrations in the history of pro sports: Guy makes great play. Guy celebrates. Guy tears ACL, ruins his career.

Actually, this is kind of depressing. I need a drink.

6. In Your Face

This inexplicable touchdown celebration occurred just a couple weeks ago. After running a fumble back for a touchdown against the hapless St. Louis Rams, New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley did what any testosterone-fueled macho guy would do: he found a team intern and spiked the ball on his face. Actually, it was an accident, and Boley apologized. But I would rather pretend it was done with malice of forethought. (In fact, I pretend all things are done with malice of forethought. Makes life more spicy.)

5. Leon Lett Fumble

This play from Super Bowl XXVII perfectly sums up why the 14-year-old version of myself hated the Dallas Cowboys. In fact, this play perfectly sums up why the 30-year-old version of myself still hates the Dallas Cowboys. All Leon Lett has to do is hold on to the damn football for 2 more seconds. Instead, he starts showboating and karma bites the defensive tackle in his ample ass.

4. Alabama Crotch Bump

I’m pretty sure this little maneuver, in addition to being painful and embarrassing, is actually illegal in Alabama. (I’ll have an intern check on that and get back to you. In the meantime, please move on to the next video highlight.)

3. Homoerotic Touchdown Celebration

Okay, here’s one that is definitely illegal in Alabama. (It’s okay in Arizona, just so long as you’ve got proof of citizenship.)

This Arizona Cardinals TD celebration was already pretty weird to begin with. But then the ref gets involved, and things get downright nasty. Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Docket learns the hard way—and by “the hard way” I mean “from the fact that the ref gave him a reach-around”—that he shouldn’t ride his teammate like a horsey.

So. Awkward.

2. DeSean’s Flip ‘n Fumble

Well, I told you we’d see DeSean Jackson on this list again. This epic celebration catastrophe occurred during the 2004 high school football all-star game (a.k.a., “the U.S. Army All-American Bowl”). It pretty much explains why he went to Sacramento State and not, say, Ohio State, despite being the #1 high school recruit in the country. And it also helps explain why he wasn’t drafted until the second round of the 2008 NFL draft: teams thought he might have “character problems.” Yeah, I guess.

Here’s a look at the botched celebration from another angle:

1. Beware of Astroturf

Who would have thought the worst touchdown celebration of all time didn’t even happen in America?

Meet Kerwin Bell, ladies and gentlemen, former quarterback for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts in 1998 and again from 2000-2001. The guy actually had some great years with the Argos, and even got to play in one NFL game in which he completed 5 of 5 passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Sadly, all anyone will ever remember him for is that time he spiked the ball right into his own nads. I guess nobody told him that astroturf is really bouncy.

Seeing as how it was only his first game of the season, we’ll chalk this one up as a case of rustiness on Barber’s behalf and simply assume that by week 17 he will be landing those backflip celebrations with ease.

Here is a look at the failed touchdown celebration from the Bears’ running back.

Burger King and Fox’s NFL pre-game show gave viewers an inside look at what goes on inside the always interesting Dallas Cowboys locker room (when they are not busy singing) in this weeks edition of “The King and Us.” Needless to say, Jessica Simpson size, Tony Romo‘s knack for choking, and Wade Phillips‘ job security were all topics of discussion.

Cartoon versions of Marion Barber and Jason Witten kick things off by poking fun at Jessica’s weight issues, and Phillips joins in with some verbal jabs towards Romo and his big game blunders. But the best part just might be when Jessica enters the scene hand-in-hand with Kyle Orton stating “I only lose weight for winners.” So does that mean we should expect Simpson to grow exponentially as long as she is with Redskins backup quarterback Colt Brennan?

As for the Rex Ryan comparison to Octomom, you can only hope the Jets head coach is taking that one as a compliment.

Recently Marion Barber was spotted at the M2 Ultra Lounge in New York City partying with his buddies and spending money like the world economy was in good shape.

“Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber racking up a $14K bar tab at M2 -and thanking the waitresses with a $3K tip.” [SportsCracklePop]

I mean this is no shock, last Saturday I spent $12,000 at Century Room in Toronto. This is pretty much the average I spend when I’m dreaming.

Many famous athletes have visited the M2 Ultra Lounge, including Kobe Bryant, Terrell Owens and Charles Barkley. So if your ever in New York be sure to visit the the M2 Ultra Lounge because you can be sure to see one of your favorite athletes there drinking it up and partying like nobody was watching. (Be sure to bring your camera and send the pictures to Total Pro Sports)
