…and hilarity ensued.

Beasley needed five stitches to seal the cut he sustained on the index finger of his shooting hand, however, he was able to play against the Spurs the following night.

Beasley’s 914 squad was taking on Kevin Durant’s Team Nike when reports indicate that several fans in attendance began heckling the T-Wolves’ forward with comments like “You’re a f**king bum” and “You ain’t sh*t Beasley!” This irked Beasley to the point where he confronted one of the heckling fans, saying “I’ve never been a bitch … I’ll show you that right now,” before shoving him in the face. Cooler heads would eventually prevail, as Beasley found the fan at the end of the game and shook his hand.

I can’t help but think that if Durant, Beasley and the rest of the NBA stars continue to provide us with off-season highlights like they have thus far, maybe a lockout wouldn’t be so hard to swallow after all.

After averaging 13.9 and 14.8 in his first two years as a pro, respectively, Beasley’ has adapted well to his new environment and is currently averaging and impressive 21.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Last night he surpassed both of those totals, racking up 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists during a 113-98 win over the New Orleans Hornets.

It was quite the impressive win for the Timberwolves, who had only been able to put together 7 wins in their previous 31 contests, but with the likes of Beasley and Kevin Love leading the charge, the future may be bright for this young team after all. He may have to do some waiting before getting a shot at the post season (and perhaps even a championship), but for now Beasley earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, December 27, 2010.

Michael Phelps learned that very lesson last year when only a few months after he won an outstanding eight gold medals at the Summer Games in Beijing, he was captured in a picture taking a hit of marijuana from a bong. Fortunately he was able to rebound from all the bad publicity and is back to his winning ways.

Things don’t always turn out so smoothly. Just look at Michael Beasley‘s recent life developments.

Beasley posted a picture of his new tattoo on his Twitter page which caused a stir among many. The controversy was not regarding the image he had imprinted on his back, but the baggies that appeared on the floor in the background. Many speculate that they contained marijuana, and after being heavily discussed, the Heat forward had heard enough. He posted the following messages on his Twitter page moments before eventually deleting his account:

“Y do I feel like the whole world is against me…I can’t win for losin,” Beasley wrote.

“Feelin like it’s not worth livin!!!!!!! I’m done.”

Beasley has since checked himself into a Houston rehabilitation hospital after being encouraged by the Heat to seek help for substance abuse and psychological issues. He is also likely to meet with John Lucas, a former NBA player and coach who is known for working with troubled players.

Whether the former No. 2 overall pick can become another success story is the question that Heat fans will have to wait to have answered.

Here is the controversial pic.

Total Pro Sports – Last night Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder set a new All Star record in the Rookies-Sophomores game scoring 46 points on the rookies, breaking the 2004 record previously held by Amare Stoudemire.

“Decked out in Day-Glo orange high-tops, Durant hit 17 of 25 shots from the field, four of eight from three-point range, and made all eight of his free throws. Durant also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.”

The sophomore won the game 122-116, childhood friends Kevin Durant and Michael Beasley treated the Rookie Challenge like a playground duel back in Maryland.

“Kevin’s a great player and I’m just glad to be on the court with him,” said Beasley, like Durant a No. 2 overall pick in the draft. “I’m happy to be mentioned in the same breath as him.”

A definite star in the making, Kevin Durant will be a name nobody will ever forget. Maybe if he wasn’t playing for such an unknown team in Oklahoma he would get air time needed to make him into that star.

Another reason is the perceived notion that Mayo could be a starting PG in the NBA. I don’t buy it; I think that there is no chance that they pass on Beasley because he seems like a great prospect.

Lets look at the numbers: in his freshman year Mayo averaged 20.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Beasley averaged 26.4 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. For me the numbers speak for themselves, as Beasley totaled almost 7 more points per game and 8 more rebounds. Also during the March Madness tournament Beasley and Mayo went head to Head, where Beasley and his team also came out on top. Beasley totaled 23 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes, while Mayo only managed 20 points, and five assists in 40 minutes.

Another possible scenario sees the Bulls sending their first overall pick combined with Tyrus Thomas and Larry Hughes to the Heat for Dwayne Wade. This will then give Miami the first two picks of the draft, most likely being Rose and Beasley. This rumour has been gaining a lot of momentum lately because of the fact that Wade is from the Chicago area. Wade is also the face of the franchise for the Heat and I don’t really see this deal happening.

A more plausible deal would see the Heat send Udonis Haslem to the Raptors for T.J. Ford. This would give the Heat a starting PG, and the Raptors a player with a solid rebounding ability. If the Heat choose to draft Beasley and if Marion plays out the rest of his deal this would make a lot of sense for both teams, as Haslem would most likely be a bench warmer. When draft night comes around there should many surprises, if there is one thing I can say to the Heat, it is pass on Mayo its not good for you.

After a few changes and dropouts Total Pro Sports NBA Mock Draft 2008 2.0 has been published:

1. Bulls- Derrick Rose, 6-3 205, Memphis, freshman

(14.9 PPG, 4.7 APG, 4.8 RPG, 1.23 SPG)

The Bulls are in need of a solid PG and this is their guy.

2. Heat- Michael Beasley, 6-9 235, Kansas State, freshman

(26.2 PPG, 12.4 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.6 BPG)

With Rose off the board this is a good pick for the Heat who need to find help for D Wade. Many reports indicate that the Heat could also select Mayo because of his ability to play point and his relationship with Wade.

3. Timberwolves- O.J. Mayo, 6-5 215, Southern Cal, freshman

(20.7 PPG, 3.3 APG, 4.5 RPG, 1.5 SPG)

This pick would make a lot of sense as Mayo would add depth to the front court as he can play at the 1 or 2 spot.

4. Sonics- Brook Lopez, 7-0 260, Stanford, sophomore

(19.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.4 APG, 2.1 BPG)

The Sonics could use this big man to help defend against the giants in the NBA’s Western Conference. His ability to score from the post would help to take pressure off Durant.

5. Grizzlies- Kevin Love, 6-10 270, UCLA, freshman

(17.5 PPG, 10.6 RPG, 1.9 APG, 1.4 BPG)

With the loss of Gasol, Love could step in and contribute right away.

6. Knicks- Danilo Gallinari, 6-9 215, Italy

(14.9 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.5 SPG)

New coach Mike D’antoni would love to add this versatile player to his newly inherited Knicks team.

7. Clippers- Russell Westbrook, 6-3 190, UCLA, sophomore

(12.8 PPG, 4.3 APG, 3.9 RPG, 1.6 SPG)

The Clippers need a PG and Westbrook who played at UCLA could become a fan favourite.

8. Bucks- Jerryd Bayless, 6-3 195, Arizona, freshman

(19.7 PPG, 4.1 APG, 2.7 RPG, 1 SPG)

Coming of a solid freshman season the Bucks fill a need and also go with a PG.

9. Bobcats- Eric Gordon, 6-4 215, Indiana, freshman

(20.9 PPG, 2.4 APG, 3.3 RPG, 1.3 SPG)

This sharpshooter could start for this team right away if Adam Morrison is slow to recover from injury.

10. Nets- Anthony Randolph, 6-11 220, Louisiana State, freshman

(15.6 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.1 SPG)

This athletic big man should mesh well with the Nets style of play.

11. Pacers- DeAndre Jordan, 7-0 250, Texas A&M, freshman

(7.9 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.3 BPG)

Jordan should be a good value pick here, if he does not go even earlier.

12. Kings- D.J. Augustin, 6-0 180, Texas, sophomore

(19.2 PPG, 5.8 APG, 2.9 RPG, 1.2 SPG)

One of the top rated PG’s in the draft could be a nice fit for the kings.

13. Trailblazers- Donte Green, 6-11 225, Syracuse, freshman

(17.7 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2 APG, 1.3 SPG, 1.6 BPG)

Green could add excellent depth to an already young and talented squad.

14. Warriors- Darrell Arthur, 6-10 235, Kansas, sophomore

(12.6 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 1.4 BPG)

Arthur seems to be the type of player the Don Nelson loves to have on his teams.

15. Suns- Chris Douglas-Roberts, 6-7 205, Memphis, Junior

(17.7 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.1 SPG)

Roberts would look good on the opposite end of Steve Nash passes on a regular basis.

16. 76ers- Marreese Speights, 6-10 250, Florida, sophomore

(14.5 PPG, 8.2 RPG, 1.4 BPG, 1 APG)

17. Raptors- Nicholas Batum, 6-8 210, France

(8.5 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 2.7 APG)

18. Wizards- Roy Hibbert, 7-2 275, Georgetown, Senior

(13.4 PPG, 6.4 RPG, 1.9 APG, 2.2 BPG)

19. Cavaliers- Mario Chalmers, 6-1 190, Kansas, Junior

(12.8 PPG, 4.3 APG, 3.1 RPG, 2.5 SPG)

20. Nuggets- JaVale Mcgee, 7-0 237, Nevada, Sophomore

(14.3 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.8 BPG)
